Labrador Puppy Sleeping Habits

I would say that is perfectly normal. I have a lab/cross who is now 17 months old and has always slept alot, but by golly he makes up for it when he is awake, needs loads of excercise and is up to mischief every waking moment, and is a great chewer/eater of the most peculiar things (this is a labrador trait) so don't worry unless he is not eating well or has any other problems, as all puppies sleep alot whilst they are growing, and labs don't mature until about 2 years old. Hope this helps to put your mind at rest.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Puppies sleep a lot (16-18 hrs a day). My puppy (13 week old Havanese) is only UP about about 5-6 hours a day. They need a lot of sleep! Have fun with your little pup!

Your puppy is fine. She is probably playing just as hard as she is sleeping. I never knew a dog could sleep so completely until I had my lab. She even seemed to sleep with all her heart and soul. She would rush around and play, then all would go quiet and I would find her asleep under the table, sometimes her paws would be twitching as if she were still running around and she would be making little puppy growly sounds. It is a lovely time in a puppy's life, she's fine, relax and just enjoy it.

I have a chocolate lab and she slept loads as a puppy, she had 10 lab puppies and they slept loads as well. We had 3 of them untill 10 weeks and trust me she'll start to get a bit more awake. Puppies are like newborn babies eat, sleep and poo.
Trust me in a couple of months you'll be wishing your dog was sleeping more labs are mad hyper dogs and act like crazy puppies for about 5 yrs. Good luck.

This is normal. Young puppies sleep loads and you should make sure he doesn't get woken up before he is ready.
You are lucky he is sleeping through the night - some puppies are like human babies and take ages to settle. Sounds like he has a lovely, relaxed personality! Well chosen!

Make the most of it! She's overloaded with all the new experiences of the past 4 days. All the big dogs I've had have slept a lot as puppies - some days more than others. We call them Growing Days!

My lab-pit combination began doing this at around your canine's age. properly no longer taking part in while it grow to be mattress time, yet he would not sleep next to me anymore... it particularly is positive. you do no longer ought to sleep together with your canine all night. I close my mattress room door so my canine won't bypass away for the time of the night and get into crap. yet as quickly as I left the door open, I assure you that my pug-pomeranian combination will bypass away contained in the direction of the night or an hour until now I awaken and sit down on the settee and sleep. that's positive with me. yet while my door is closed, he will often in basic terms stay on the foot of my mattress or by my legs and could no longer flow except I bodily get away from mattress and walk into the different room. while my pug-pom combination would not calm down as quickly as I get into mattress, I the two push him off or tell him "no" and "it particularly is mattress time" in a stern voice. and he listens. yet he's likewise 2 years previous and is out of the domestic dog degree. He would not play that very like my Jack-Chi domestic dog.
