To have a favorite driver is great but always have another that you will watch.
The list of favorites of mine that no longer race include;
Dale Senior
Davey Allison
Bobby Allison
Darrell Waltrip
Cotton Owens
Fireball Roberts
Curtis Turner
Junior Johnson
Some are no longer with us and some still show up at NASCAR events and wave at the crowds.
But there are drivers that have replaced them;
Tony Stewart
Jeff Burton
Denny Hamlin
so there are still good true racers out there so enjoy.

Better that he retires, than goes into a long sad decline. Richard Petty fans and DW fans had to endure this. I always liked Bill Elliott, but he's not much fun to watch now . . . .
For many years Mark Martin has been my favorite, and at 48, he's still competitive. When he gets set back for some reason it's a joy to watch him work his way back up through the field, every pass neat and clean.
But there have always been other drivers I liked. When Mark announced that he was only racing part-time this year, I had to choose another driver to root for, for the championship. I picked one of Mark's former teammates and proteges, another "clean" driver and a real gentleman on and off the track . . . .
wait for it . . . .
Jeff Burton! :-)

My favorite driver of all time was Terry LaBonte. He retired after the Nov Texas race last year. He did drive for M. Waltrip at Sonoma.. made my day. But, I am still a Nascar fan. Love the sport, don't miss a race on TV, and go to 2-3 races a year. Now instead of buying all the Terry souvenirs, i buy the track ones.

My favorite driver is Tony Stewart. It'll be a long time before he retires but I'll probably pick Denny Hamlin who is Tony's team mate as my next favorite. I have a number of drivers that I like, so I'll always have someone to cheer for.

My driver could retire in two years. I'll get over it right away, sure I will be sad and miss seeing him race every week, but I will just start rooting for another driver luckily I have a few younger guys that I like that won't be retiring in a couple years. I'll just pick one of them and root for them like I do my fave driver now.

Jeff Gordon has been mentioning about retiring, but I don't think he will for a while. I hopr he will stay long enough to get 8 championships, but if he retires he will still be my favorite. I would cheer for Jimmie Johnson and Junior.

Already handed off.........i became a die difficult Rusty Wallace fan. I purely this year got here across a sparkling admired in carl Edwards. with the point to respond to your question I truly have a million admired yet quite a few that i like & help to an quantity. whilst my fave retires I purely root for all of those drivers until a definite driving force stands proud & truly catches my interest. that's what handed off. After Rusty retired I purely form of drifted from driving force to driving force until this year whilst Carl grabbed my comprehensive interest & now he's my fave. until this year I had a million Carl blouse & possibly 2 diecast vehicles. on account that I attended the July Daytona race I truly have 10 tshirts, 2 sweatshirts, 4 caps, a pit board sign, seat cushion, aflac duck, automobile hauler, 8 diecast vehicles, jewelry, key chain, backpack, creditional holder, & different misc Carl Edwards merchandise. As on your different question until I grew to alter right into a Carl Edwards fan i could have & did pick Rusty became my all-time fave. genuine now inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it can be a toss-up between the two. in spite of the actuality that i could probable provide carl the nod because of the fact some months lower back I examine an editorial asserting that Rusty became pondering popping out of retirement. My 1st theory became no, he won't be able to. this is taken me 2 years to discover a sparkling admired & I purely don't be attentive to if i could desire to circulate lower back to rooting for Rusty as passionately as I did in the previous he retired.

Well I was a diehard Richard Petty fan since I went to my first race in 1967,when he retired in 1992 it was Jeff Gordon's first race and I noticed him in Busch so I started pulling for him. I don't think it will be long before he retires so I guess I will be pulling for another Hendrick Motorsports driver.
