The purpose of creation of God by our ancestors is to bring a discipline among the people. The king was the superior most person in a kingdom or a community. God was created by those wise ancestors to bring a discipline.
A small kid most of the time refuses to take food. The mother shows the moon and tells the kid that if the kid takes the food properly, then she will get the kid the moon. Was it possible?
The mother used the moon to bribe the kid and to bring discipline to the kid and take the food.
Likewise, the wise ancestors bribed the uneducated class with God and brought discipline among the people.
Latter, God was associated with everything and now we fight for forgetting the real basic cause of creation of god.

Humans are thinking animals so we need to think that there is some greater power beyond our comprehension that accounts for all the strange things going on in the world. That is the purpose of a god.

In ancient days to make people understand and to bring back to civilised life, The inteligent people have created GOD and the corresponding stories. This is just like our parents use to tell stories to us to understand the way of life.
The day when we started thinking the problem started, The things which we cant understand we assign it as a gods / some superbeing teritory, Once we started discovering things the teritory of god is decreasing and the humans is increasing. And finally we will come to a conclusion ther is no such things like GOD.

God has no 'purpose' ... he created us and watches over us so we could 'evolve enough' to live with him in his 'universe' (which we call Heaven) after we die in Earth's universe. Animals don't 'need God because they were not given 'free will' ... and I think that animals will 'go to Heaven' too, but that we who are 'humans' in this universe will be 'of a higher class' than the animals will be ... but that is 'just my theory' ... and by the way, NONE of us will look, act, talk, or BE 'the same as we are here. THAT is 'the greatest mystery of all' because I don't 'know' of what we will 'be' when we are in Heaven ... until I get there. See you there!

I'm a avid believer that man created god to bring fear and an excuse for living a (human) life. Human's make mistakes and we need a god,I guess, to be our savior. Big daddy..Man has had some kind of religion for centuries.. And you can see where Christianity came from the Pagans, also..If you study religious histories you will see what I mean..Man was the creator of religion. Nobody has the edge on another!

Because without some kind of god what would life be like? No boundaries no rule.. Everyone would be crazy... Not saying he exists or not... But I believe the purpose would be to keep people in order... Knowing if you kill you are going to go to hell?? How likely will you be to kill if you believe that? That just happens to be what I think the reason "GOD" is existing. and who are we to say animals don't believe in it or it is not real? Have you talked to anything of different species? And I'm talking when you were Sober... Hope it helped

In order to understand the formless GOD ,the ALMIGHTY, our ancestors created several methods in which worshipping the God in a form you like is one.
God does not have any purpose ,if you think that God is some divine supreme power sitting somewhere and judging you and guiding you.
The worshipping there form (saakaara GOD) leads gradually to understand to finally realise the formless GOD.Then at that stage you need no form,no book, no hymn. You realise that whatever exists is nothing but GOD including yourself.
So to lead a life of happiness, helping the needy and miserables and always remembering the Divinity in you is what we want to achieve.
So what purpose you allot to GOD.nothing.The Divinity in you that guides every second in the shape of conscience is God.He guides you always even if you do not hear Him.That is the soul PURPOSE OF GOD.Listen to His voice in you.You willbe blessed.
There is purpose to your existence and mine to realise that EVERYTHING IS DIVINE.

The Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul comes and teaches us, souls through the body of Prajapita Brahma in order to take us to the land of Vishnu (perfect four-armed image of Lakshmi and Narayan). The land of Vishnu means the land of heaven. Shiv Baba, God will give us all the liberation and the salvation and take us away from this impure world. He establishes new kingdom of heaven, golden age, Satyug. This is the world of pain and sorrow (Kaliyug) and God will send His children (those who follow His Shreemat) to the world of happiness. In today's murli Baba said that He grants salvation only to human beings, not to animals. But, after all the animals will be the part of that new world and they will be also pure and non-violent like we, deities, and they will have love for each other. In this impure world the impure human souls make influence on the elements of nature and we are, in fact who created violent animals. The vices are our the greatest enemies! Conquer them with the remembrance of the Father. In this way we are protected. God loves all His children. He gives Knowledge for the people of all religions but it is all up to us can we recognize Him and this the most elevated period of time. www.bkwsu.org www.brahmakumaris.org

The existence of The Invisible Sky Critter is the GREATEST sting of planet dwellers' history.
The ISC was invented by some scammers who realised adults needed something to take the place of the security blanket and knew they'd pay good money for the delusion.
There's really good money to be made from religion - pushing it or treating it - IF you can keep a straight face.

Other animals don't have the ability for abstract thoughts like we do, atleast not at our level.
Humans have many reasons for gods, probably the most important are to give comfort, and explain the unknown.
In the case of Christianity, logic is important, so many doctrines sort of "fell out" of the original premises (hence the increasingly complex doctrines over the early church's history)
