So, I was in the back parking lot of a drug store the other night doing an exchange(I'm not going to say what it was, but it could be bottles of ozarka water, so please, none of your lectures) with a friend, from my trunk to his. Then we talked for a couple min. and we left. Well, just as we are about to pull out of the parking lot my radar detector blows up and see a cop come up behind me. Well, my friend turns left and I turn right and this cop is following me. Well, I go a block or two, do a u-turn and the cop does the same. So I get in the far right lane and turn right on the red light and the cop just stays there chillin at the red light. So, I am wondering why the cop was following me trying to find a reason to pull me over and is there anything he could have pulled me over for? He was obviously following me because all the twists and turns I did he did too.

could be lots of reasons he didnt pull you over.
He could have got another call.
He may have ran your plates looking and you came up clean.
He could have just decided not to.
Maybe he had to piss
who knows.

But just because you got lucky this time doesnt mean you will next

The police can do pretty much anything they want to do to you, don't you ever watch police brutality on TV, and ever notice how most of them are deemed justified in their actions by some judge somewhere? Be lucky it went down the way it did, the more you know about the law the better though, know your rights and their limits. You can refuse a search and should refuse to be searched. Even being patted down for weapons requires probable cause, asking for ID requires probable cause, always lock your doors if the police ask you to get out of the vehicle, if they ask why you locked your doors, what are you trying to hide just tell them it's a habit, if they tell you to open them refuse, if they threaten to get the police dogs out there refuse, if they offer to go easy on you if you cooperate refuse, even say no thank you politely. I refuse to cooperate and I love to aggravate the police, the worse thing they can do besides beat you up is arrest you and I'll go to jail over principal and sue when I get out!

a lot of times when its close to shift change cops don't really want to be bothered and if he saw you exchanging your "water" then he probably figured it would be more than a routine traffic stop which means more work for him. Or you just got lucky

I'm surprised you didn't get pulled over, my old man got pulled over for crossing the white bike line when he turned the corner. Probably the cop was to scared, they only pull people over that they don't think are a threat. : )

He was probably intrigued by your apparently clandestine activity, and chose to follow you.

While following you, he probably ran your information to see if you had warrants, tickets, etc.. for probable cause.

I guess you didn't give him any. Good for you!

Hope this helps!

haha you must of been driving a nice car... cops are usually assholes to boys that seem suspicious or drive shitty/racer cars

By the time he got to red light, he realized it was time for his coffee and doughnut break!
