Not enough info.

Rentacops (AKA Security Officers) only have authority ON the property that they are hired for. Not on public streets

Thats not to say they can't observe your wrongdoing off property and report you to the police.

All the call from the Security Officer would do is alert the police to fact that someone is speeding in a given area. The police would still have to locate the idiot speeding through the neighborhood themselves and observe the violation before taking any action

UPDATE:
arily666: you wrote "a rentacop working in loss prevention..."

Rent-a-cops are contractual security guards. Loss Prevention Officers are direct employees of the store. and have much higher background experiance often up to and incuding being a former law enforcement officer and/or have a degree or other specified training in Crime prevention. A security Guard rent-a-cop does not have that. You are naming two different things as if they were the same thing.

a rentacop working in loss prevention at a retail store has special laws that allow for pursuit of a theif outside of the property rights that the law for most security officers are bound to . the answer seems to be if you are caught you can get into trouble by any running from a rentacop they do sometimes call the regular police and are required to in the case of a felony by law in many cases.

Simply speeding through a neighborhood isn't very smart. Worry less about getting in trouble and worry more about injuring or killing someone.

Are you talking about a security guard and not a sworn law enforcement officer. If it was as security guard I wouldn't worry about it.
