spell check.. DYING NOT DIEING.. the only one i knew died on the cross to save mankind from their sins is JESUS. that's a big deal to christians because christianity started there.. from the salvation of sins..
FYI: jesus didn't commit suicide.. he was tourtured to death..

Heaven is only a great place if you believe in the son that he sent and be obedient to him.
Why Jesus died For Us
He is our sacrificial lamb who shed his blood to cover your sins: past, present and future. If not he died at the cross in vain. He full filled and nailed the 10 commandments to the cross (Colossi ans 2:14). God will remember your sins no more (Hebrews 10:17). You are a sinner for life, there is nothing that you can do not to sin (1 john 1: 7 - 10). You can not go out into the world and do what ever you wish, just because Jesus cover your sins (Romans 6: 1 - 3). Hebrews 8: 7 – 13 he wrote the laws into our hearts, so that you would know Wright from wrong.
If you have faith in Jesus and are obedient to God, then you are not under the 10 commandments.
If you do not believe in Jesus, then you are under the 10 commandments, now you need to bring your unblemished goat to the alter every year and sacrifice it to cover your sins but with Jesus, he is our new covenant.
You are justified by faith and not of your works

Does torture sound like much fun to you? Jesus was mocked, spit on, whipped. Death on a cross was long, extreme pain, and agony. Jesus did nothing wrong. He was tortured and died on the cross but was innocent. Jesus didn't have to do it. He had the power to overcome those that were crucifying Him and go elsewhere, even back to Heaven if He wanted to. He died on the cross for us. To deliver us from the wadges of our sin and make it possible that we could be forgiven, righteous in Gods eyes, and go to Heaven.

As an atheist... I believe the correct christian answer is, he was taking on all of the sins of the human race, and this was devastating, especially being that he was holy. In addition to this he was separated from God, which for a holy being we would not even be able to comprehend what this was like

We are so corrupted and riddled with sin that we can't even see it half the time. Without Jesus taking on our burden of sin and dying in agony in our place, we could never make it to Heaven. The price of one sin unforgiven is eternal death; each of us probably commits a billion in a lifetime. So we die as a token reminder of the price Jesus paid, then we rise again just as He did as proof of his conquering of death and sin.

I don't know cuz the cross wasn't even put in to use untill hundreds of years after jesus's death ,like all christains on this site they have nothing but here say to contribute,not historical facts thus aiding more athisits

Take a minute and search the internet for a description of the physical torture that is suffered when a human being is nailed to a cross. The slow, agonizing, lingering death.
Then come back and try that question again.

God is Holy.We are not.We sin.God the Father can not coexist with sin,Jesus died in our place.So when a person receives Jesus in their heart God can not see sin in our spirit.God sees Jesus.So then we are allowed to enter into heaven.Jesus is the only bridge to God in heaven.

Well I don't believe in God or heaven but I know enough from Bible class at school to know that it is because Jesus died for our sin's so that we could get into heaven.

JESUS died on the Cross and completed a SELF-Sacrifice that opened Heaven up to us. HE first went to Hell and harrowed the place.
