When I bought my truck 2 mos. ago I had to pull up on the steering wheel to start it. Now When I turn the key It starts but the key switch doesnt disenagage the starter. Sometime when I bump the steering wheel the truck shuts off. The steering wheel is also loose. Can this be the bearings in the steering wheel or the Ignition/Key Switch? I have a 1981 Ford F100

Your first problem is the loose steering wheel, the bearings for the upper steering shaft have failed or the upper bearing retainer housing broke, your starting problem is caused by a small aluminum piece called an actuator that hooks the lock cylinder gears to the ignition switch linkage allowing the column to tilt. The parts to fix the column are available at your local Ford dealer, find a service manual and follow the instructions and it isn't too tough to repair. The only special tool you need is a pivot pin remover that only cost about $10 from MAC tools, that or use a fine thread bolt and a small slide hammer to remove the pins.

Sounds like someone took apart the steering wheel and did something down inside the column and didn't do it right.
You probably have a problem with your ignition switch, its contacts inside the column, wiring in the column, connectors not seated fully, steering wheel not locked down correctly, etc... I don't think bearings have anything to do with your problems, just somebody who didn't know what they were doing.
You will need to have someone that knows how to take apart and fix steering columns/ignition switches go in and fix it correctly. You may need some new parts since things aren't working correctly. They may be the wrong parts or damaged from not being installed correctly.

different than for pulling the ignition fuse you're able to desire to choke off the air furnish with a rag. The ignition continues to be grew to become on however and drawing present and your battery will die in one day. Pulling the fuse is passable. I made my advice so i could say why it isn't the passable. additionally in case somebody else made the equivalent advice. Get a sparkling ignition lock that works.
