So does God not listen to prayers, or does he just not care enough about stupid prayer requests...

I've noticed over the years that a lot of people pray for good weather on the weekend... More people pray for good weekend weather than good weather during the work week... so... since statistically the weather is the same for all days of the week, God must be ignoring those requests...??

SO, to sum up... every single person asking for a weather request must (MUST) be asking for selfish reasons... and on top of that, its too much trouble to send the rain before and after the weekend... I guess it makes sense now

Not heartfully given prayers are considered unnecessary to be avoided.

That's really silly. God is interested in sincere hearts that speak to Him, whatever the reason. He listens for a truthful outpouring of the soul. What you think is frivolous, may not be to someone else and God knows our hearts. The weather could be a life and death issue for some, especially lately, and God would certainly take them seriously. However He answers a prayer is for the best. We may not know the reasons or see the big picture, but He does.
God doesn't ignore any prayers, but reacts as He chooses every time.

Probably, I'd get sick of that too...

We also have to remember God is not our Coca-Cola machine, He has a plan and purpose, we need to work out how to pray most effectively to be part of the plan and purpose and it doesn't mean inventing holier words or finding the biggest words out of the dictionary it is about praying for our needs and ensuring they will help God's plan and purpose, as Christians we should have some idea... ie. God wants all to be saved.. Health is a promise of the cross...

Weather, the only thing I want God to do with the weather is fix it so I don't get stung for more money...

God always answers prayers, even the smallest or seemingly insignificant. What you might be forgetting is that the answer can be yes, no or later.

Sometime we might pray for something specific for a selfish reason (I know I do), and then get angry because God doesn't answer the way we want Him to. And then we go and take it into our own hands to do what we think is the best, sometimes with bad results. What then? Was it God's fault that we chose to ignore Him and take matter into our own hands?

Please don't think God ignores anyone. He doesn't.

It is difficult to ascertain whether God answer general prayers like those relating to the weather. Some people may not want rain but the trees and plants need rain. Whose or which need should God meet? God will decide and answer to what He deems is good. It is easier to know whether God answer prayers applying specifically to yourself like praying for healing in your body. The answer to your prayer will be met when you have the rhema for your healing (Romans 10:17). So you need to pray until the rhema comes.

God listens to *all* prayers; but the only prayer by a non-believer He'll answer *yes* to, is a sincere prayer for salvation!

Did you ever stop to think an answer can be, "No", "Yes", or "Not yet"? It's possible more people prayed for rain than prayed for it not to rain. I suspect a selfish prayer, or an unreasoned prayer to God gets more negative answers than it does positive ones.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16(KJV) The closer one's will conforms to God's will, the closer one's prayers conform to God's desires and get positive answers!

I have also noted that god ignores the prayer request to feed all of the starving little children in Africa, which god being god could easily do, or are they just pawns in a game to see if we in affluent countries will feed them, meantime while the game is going on they are dying in their droves from aids, starvation...well you know the story. I think god must be extremely selective in answering prayers. I wonder if by any chance the prayers of six or more million people annihilated in 1939-1945, also went unheard?

God never ignores those who love Him. However, we don't always get what we ask Him for. That makes no difference to me. He has answered my prayers many times. And if sometimes what I pray for doesn't happen, that's it. I never try to second guess why not. He is God. When I pray, it's always understood that His will can always trump my requests, and I don't need to know why.

i know this is a smartellic question but ill answer. 1) you have to believe hes gonna do it. 2) before you ask anything else you need to repent of sins that you may have done. 3) if its not his will hes not gonna do it. weather for instance, you dont want it to rain but he knows we need it to rain. what do you think hes gonna do? your will or his? he knows whats best we dont. it dont matter what you pray for, nothing to him is to dumb for you to pray for if thats what your wanting. dont even say anything bout murder, drugs, or anything like that. i hope no one would pray that he helps them sin
