This brings me to mind of a story I heard of a woman who was born and raised in a south African country, and came to live in the Us. When she was filling out a form ofsomeekin, and it got to te part were it asked for race, and gave a list of possibilities, and she put down "African/American" though she was white. Should she be considered "African/American"? She WAS born and raisedin Africa. and came to theh US to live.
No, we are not Christian like orthodox, mainstream "traditional" Christianity, but that does NOT make us any less Christian.

well, mormons are christians. The church in named the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. No where in that says Joseph Smith. The reasons why people call us mormons is because of the Book of Mormon. The church is of christ. Joseph Smith was just a great prophet and person. We use the bible and the book of mormon. They go hand in hand. If your calling us Cults, whoever considers the LDS a Cult, I would suggest a dictionary and find out for yourself.
In the bible it also says in the 5th book of moses(Deut. 4:2) it also says dont add or take away from the bible. Moses didnt know That there will be other prophets after him. So, what it meant was that you can add or take away from the first five books of moses(Genesis-Deuteronomy). If so, that means every book after the last book of Moses(Deuteronomy) is false???? No. The bible was not put together in chronological form. Some scriptorians and smart people just got all the books and put it together. Also, it says it in Revelations dont add or take away but no one knows when revelations was written. There are Many books in the bible that are missing. One book is called the "Book of Jasher"
(Joshua 10:13). It had been found and published and I saw the book in a Libary on the island of Oahu(Hawaii). Since its not in the bible does it mean its false? There are many books in the bible that is still out there. If found, will those books be considered false or adding or taking away? Think of it. Dont Come down on mormons because there are things you dont quite understand. We Are Christian. Nuff Said.

As a LDS, I am disappointed in the "Christian Attitude", so I would not even want to be called a "Christian".
Now, aside from others narrow minded opinions of us:
I accept Jesus Christ to be my redeemer.
23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 25:23)
And further more:
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
(Pearl of Great Price | Articles of Faith 1:11)

Why do you care what they call themselves? Do you feel threatened by their beliefs in some way? Do you consider Catholics to be Christians, especially considering that the Pope now has said that non-Catholics aren't Christians?
What's in a name anyway. Just be glad you are both on the same side of the religious/non-religious fence and you can both hate non-believers.

No they, as in all the above, should not call themselves Christians. First of all, Christian means little Christ. They don't believe in the Son of God being anything other than just another prophet. In order to be a Christian you have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. You also have to believe that He died for your sins and you have to accept Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior. (Of course I am sure you already knew that).
And it truly saddens me to see the responses you or anyone receives when you ask a religious question. Breaks my heart that people are so close minded when it comes to anything other than themselves.

Mormons used to be proud of their distinction and differences from protestantism and catholicism, and emphasized those differences as proof of their "True and Living Restored Gospel".
Now that they have a 'mormon' running for president, they are trying like hell to mend fences, blend in, and show how much they are like those religions they kept bashing since 1830.
A little self piety mixed in with major hypocrisy.

No! They are not true Christians. They do not follow the bible as it is written. It tells us in the bible not to add any other scripture or worship any man. Mormons clearly do that with the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith.
They are Christian in the same way as Catholics or Jehovah Witnesses are. They believe in Jesus, but they add too many things that aren't biblical.
I found it ironic that the pope called everyone but catholics not Christians when they clearly go against the bible everyday with their statues, idols, and that book they use for mass that is not the bible. Everyone has an opinion.

Why are you so wrapped up in what Mormons call themselves? Follow the Jesus of the bible, love others, and speak His word in kindness and humility. Let God work everything else out.

Just because they do not follow what you believe to be the right Christian practices/beliefs, it is their core belief in Jesus that makes them Christians.
