I gave this a couple of minutes of theory, first, on an identical time as Jesus could have been a wood worker, i do no longer think of the Bible has any verses describing something he made/geared up/prepare so which you won't pick to hire a contractor without references. My Dad became a wood worker, yet he died, and he's no longer god he stayed lifeless, and he's no longer Jesus the two he took great pains to coach me Irish memories and "Stuff" and for some reason i won't be able to fathom, The Kalevala. So i'm no longer the son however the daughter of a Catholic/heathen wood worker, I talk some French, as a rule insults. yet I additionally am no longer a deity and that i'm on the east Coast and so thoroughly ineffective to you. and the moral of the story is outwardly no longer all deities that function hammers are equivalent. Please tell me those French guidelines have photos and Screaming approximately devil could desire to be reserved for Sunday morning. That way this is over in the previous i'm wide awake.

Actually, the word used translates better into "Artisan"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artisan

It is believed that St Joseph dedicated his life to rebuilding the temple, and at the age of 12 decided he would never marry. The temple, mostly of stone, probably made him more of a stone-worker than carpenter. But to be more accurate, he was good at what he did if he worked on the temple.

I think Jesus picked a good man for an earthly father, and learned many things. One of the things we know about Christ is that He knew how to read (He read the scriptures at His home-town temple), so He probably went to school. We also know that His family line is Davidic, and therefore, of Royal blood.

My dads a carptenter and is the smartest man I know. He can build a house in 3 months with some help. He can tell you at least 56 facts that he knows and some of the most brilliant lawyers don't. Don't mock carpenters; half of them are more intelligent than you.

Jesus was called a carpenter because he was a builder. Not a destroyer, or a philosopher completely, but one who teaches and builds in the minds of others (reminds me of me dad).

Call em whatever you wish, words don't phase me...

Christ was a Carpenter becuase Jospeh, the man who raised him, was a carpenter, and taught him his trade.

Father-son "apprentiships" were a little more popular than going to the university and getting a buisness degree back then...

As for not being intelligent? Well, I don't know many particularly stupid Rabbis, but I could be wrong...

What an insulting question!

Next time your roof doesn't fall on you during the night, you might want to consider that the skills of a carpenter are what keep you warm and dry during winter's nastiest storms.

And, even though I am not a christian, I do seem to remember that Jesus was a Rabbi and highly regarded for his wisdom and learning.

Why ask questions just to get a snigger or make others feel offended?

Surely you could use your five points more interestingly!

Hey, don't knock being a carpenter! It takes lots of skill and intelligence to be one.

Besides, back then, sons almost always followed their fathers' vocation.

Don't be silly. Jesus was a carpenter because Joseph was a carpenter, it was a trade passed down the family.

it's great to have a carpenter around. carpentry does require some sort of intelligence. They are also engineers and architects who built what you are living in. So carpenters are quite intelligent.
