I am planning to take both. When should I have each in relation to my workout (before/after)?

very interesting to me cause I don't ever hear people talk about getting creatine.. ok, creatine is a muscle building supplement, should be used with a phosate.

Creatine indirectly promotes muscle growth (anabolism) by extending an athlete's exercise output

I say take it AHEAD of working out.

Actually, both before and after the workout. This is assuming we're talking about whey as well as the creatine.

Protein before a workout will help reduce the catabolic effects of the exercise and prevent the body from utilizing muscle proteins for energy. Protein after the workout is extremely important to stop catabolism and to provide muscle with aminos to build with during the most anabolic state of the day.

Creatine is important before the workout since it helps in the production of ATP, the primary energy source used by muscles during exercise. The more ATP available, the quicker the recovery time between sets and the more intense the workout can be. Creatine also after the workout because of it's cell hydration effect - this will allow more nutrients to enter the muscle cells and aid in building muscles, thereby even further increasing the anabolic state after a workout (when taken in conjunction with whey protein and some sort of carb).

Definately the protein right after workout. I bought some too and the health profs. told me that if taken after it will "feed" your muscles and make your workout so much more effective. Don't know about the creatine, but it will tell you that on the bottle.
