My Question is simple why do people use internet explorer ?

Exploits and unpatched critical vulnerabilities put the users of Internet Explorer at risk 77 percent of the time last year, according to the latest number crunching by Brian Krebs of the Washington Post's Security Fix blog.

Based on data published by Microsoft and interviews with researchers, Krebs found that critical security issues remained unpatched in Internet Explorer for 284 days during 2006. The Mozilla Foundation's Firefox browser only suffered a single period of vulnerability lasting nine days, according to the analysis.

Most of people are unaware about damages. they used Internet Explorer because it is very easy to use, install with windows (OS).

I agree completely, but I must admit, I was reluctant to change as well. It took me at least a year and a half to switch
most 3rd party programs didn't make me feel comfortable. Thinking they'd try to track my info or trick me in some way or offer lack of support or multiplatforming.

I understood MS had issues, but just did not believe I could trust others. then IE 7 showed up. I already knew if 6 had issues then 7 surely would. not too mention I feel IE 7 removes some choices for the user to make.

Anyway Never wanting to switch to IE 7, I accepted the possibility 3rd party software might do better.

Now, with FF. I am happier than I ever was and now can actually sleep soundly knowing I have (almost) no holes in my browser...

no spyware adware, hijacks and only about 3 Pop ups ever since I installed it 8 months ago.

The End

Does it really matter?
I know many people (including myself) who use IE and have had no problems (b/c we use reliable security software).
These vulnerabilities occur in every browser. They are a fact of modern day computer use. Get over it.

Note: IE is not the only way hackers get into computers. Most of the time it is the ignorance of the computer user that puts the computer at risk.
