By play god I mean making decisions that are supposedly up to him.

Ok its been long enough so I will add more detail. Is it a sin for you to decide who will go to heven or hell or who is worthy or unworthy?

rwalke01: Very good my dear! I have been an Atheist my entire life but I have spent a lot of time in churches growing up ( charity work and child care at churches my friends attended) mostly Christian and Mormon. I did learn things while I was there and it reinforced a lot of the good personal morals I hold dear like not judging others and showing love. Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Its ok to mess up were all human as long as your sorry and learn from it. When someone needs help, help them.
As you can imagine I get kicked around quite a bit at times because I am judged on the fact that I do not believe in god and not based on the fact that I am a good person with a kind heart. Something else I learned while I was in these churches was that in god's eyes according to these ppl it was not there place to pass judgment or condemn me but to love, care and pray for me (btw no one ever tried to convert me in the churches I attended to help out)

Good question, I think I know where you are heading, the answer is yes it is a sin to play God, that is why true Christians follow God and try to lead others by example. : )

No. What's the problem is that you think you are human. I thought you were made in God's image? Doesn't that mean you are at least like God? Didn't Jesus say, "You are Gods (Elohim - John 10.34)?" Could it be that we have down played who we really are, so we could pretend to be who we are not?
When people judge others, they are playing human not God. God does not judge. God lets the rain come down on the 'just' and the 'unjust'. God blesses not curses.

Play God how? In a theatre production, or like a game of checkers?
In a theatre production, I don't think so, it depends on the seriousness of the play. Anything blasphemous, well, yes.
Checkers? It's no sin, you just have no chance.

Depends how serious you are. Also depends on wait you are doing. Something like taking life isnt playing god. And no one on Earth can create life yet so that isnt an option.

play as in role play in a stage? nope. yours is a tricky question that would arise issues...is this how you confuse other people beliefs? or is this merely an innocent question?
to be Godly or Godlike.. we were created to be such. unfortunately, for some they abuse. how do they abuse..isn't it abusing = to bad things happening. God do not abuse therefore God isn't bad. now how do i define abuse.. it's the misuse
or over use of something or someone to benefit for one's self(being selfish) only. now, do you think only God benefits for Himself only? if he did, then why did he sent His only son to save us from our sins? He loves us that's why He sent His only son to save us. if God was selfish, do you think we will send His ONLY SON to die for our stinky sins?
see i told you it would arise a chain of issues.. those are just a bit of it.. let see what others will have to say..

I'm not sure what you mean by "Play God."
We are commanded to be like God.

Yes, I belive that it would be. In "playing" God you are pretending to be as good as he is....and that's not right at all.

I would be inclined to say, "yes." Now, don't take my word for it, but if you ask satan, he would say he got kicked out of heaven for THINKING he was like God! What an idiot!!!
