I'm not a catholic and I wouldn't presume all catholics share these feelings. But I am sure these feeling are incorrect. I believe it is wrong to make graven images of anything in heaven or beneath the earth, but I wouldn't say someone would go to hell for it.This is why I display no pictures of CHRIST or crucifix or anything I know to be in heaven. but I still believe. For those that do believe your bible tells you what is necessary to enter heaven, and you don't need someone from Vatican city to explain it to you.I wonder what the average GOD fearing catholic thinks about Vatican city couldn't all that bling bling and gold bobels be put to better use ?

Actually here is quote that can from the Catholic church,“It follows that these separated churches and communities … are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation,” the congregation said. “In fact, the spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value from that fullness of grace and of truth which has been entrusted to the Catholic Church.” The link below goes into greater detail. I believe this was reasserted due in part to Anglican Church's latest news (link below) on Inclusion. The Catholic Church was stating it's hard line approach to draw disgruntled Anglicans back to the Catholic Church. And at the same time make some more liberal Catholic rethink going over to the Anglican Church.

You know something, its come to my opinion that too many people speak about heaven and hell as if something would change but I get it. My greatgrandfather was very old when he died, and grandfather was very old when he died and my father was very young when he died. The similarities were that the latter folks obeyed GOD and my dad didn't. If by some unfortunate consequence one pays gradually for longevity. GOD gives us plenty of time to run the riddle of life and with GOD the way is basic. Believe in GOD, pray, and live life giving the best that you can until death knocks. What person could say that hell is preserve to a denomination needs to rethink his life in general. Again, each hair in ones head is counted and just because it's gray doesn't mean your right it means you had a good life. I think the pope has had a good life, but I wonder how he would be judge about the hungry, the poor and the one's who don't give nothing but recommendations or suggestions. Because you can't cannonise a person to sainthood with false teachings. Don't trespass another ways of life and noone will tresspass yours. The end

All of you are just weird. First, who gives a flying flip to a cherry donut what a man in a dress and a funky hat says. I thought all you catholics were against homosexuality but you follow a man in a dress who does not have sex with women. Funny to say the least.
As for the rest of you christians, most of you do not even follow the teachings of Jesus, so how can you criticize anyone else. All of you are hypocrites who's beliefs have killed more people then any other religion in history has. Hitler was christian, you know.
You all are supposed to be christians so why don't you act like it and learn some compassion for each other.

The Pope is not saying that all non-Catholics are going to hell.
Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819
With love in Christ.

Hello,
Conservative as it is, for centuries the Catholic church has said that if one is born into another Christian religion and raised theirs, it is not their fault or a sin and are going to recieve salvation even though that Christian religion is on the wrong track. What is sinful and gets you into trouble in theory is if you are a Catholic and and commit apostasy in converting to another religion. I hope the pope is not being misquoted again or his words taken out of context... again.
No, the only person who ever said I was going to go to hell was a pentecostal minister after I argued that the theory of eternal security was wrong and contradicted Christ's teaching. Some sects say it is the pope who is ging to hell,
Anyway, none of us our God and we ultimately do not call the shots on this... even the pope and Jimmy Swaggart.

The Pope says Catholicism is the way to salvation....funny...I thought that was Jesus Christ!
The Pope needs to step off the soapbox and pick up a Bible sometime.
Not to knock Catholics, but compare what the Pope is saying to what God says....who will you believe?

I do not agree with that statement AT ALL. I am a Christian, and no offense to the Pope, but he should read his Bible. If he has one. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 : That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. It also says in Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Not just the Catholics. I always thought that "whosoever" meant anybody and everybody.

The good contributions that John Paul 2 make to reputation of the Catholic church are going overboard with the "new" Pope.
He works like Palpatine from the movie Star Wars.

Jesus said in the bible that if you had as much faith as a mustard seed that you could move mountains.
Jesus also taught the when we believe in him we will not persin but have enternal life. Being a member of the Roman Catholic Church isn't directly indicated in any scripture that I know of.
