I am a christian.
Christians, like everyone else, have done many wrong things and aren't always right. I wish we would all stop attacking each other.
Christianity can be bad. People try to change it and think they're right. If we'd just read what God says and do it, everything would be okay. We are human, though, and like to believe we are always correct. People will always have a problem with us.
It SHOULD bring peace to the world, but it offends those who don't believe in it.

"because they know that with the right message they can easily be influenced by God."

No.. Do you know how many times that is suggested on here? Sorry, but it's laughable, and completely untrue. It confirms for me that some people really have no clue. Atheists do *not* believe in your god, or in any god. I can no more be influenced by your imaginary friend than I can by Zeus.

Christianity is not a religion of peace. It may be about peace for those who buy into the dogma, or peace for those who are set upon to be converted. But for those in other religions, or for those who are not interested in your version of the whys and hows of this world? No peace and love for them. "Love the sinner; hate the sin" is just a convenient way of sugarcoating the ugly truth.

Christianity, like any religion which teaches its followers that they are the only ones who are right, the only ones who are saved, and that all others are lost or controlled by evil, divides people. It is the cold truth; we have plenty of examples of it throughout history all the way into the present.

Bl3ss3dw1thL1f3's and Jeanette's answers prove my point. If those serve as examples of peace, we are all in deep sh!t.

People are quick to attack Christianity due to the heinous actions of some those who claimed to follow it in the past as opposed to the actual teachings within it's doctrine.

Yes, people claiming to be the heralds of Christianity have killed a lot of people over it's two millennia of existence. Some 6,000,000 in the crusades, 80,000 in the Roman Inquisition, 50,000 in the Spanish Inquisition, and another 2,000,000 in the medieval inquisition, give or take a few million on those numbers.

But sitting down and listening to the rationalities behind these killings and the central teachings of Christ just goes to show you how far appart being an actual Christian and simply wearing a Crucifix while you poor molten lead down the throat of an "infidel" really is.

Just remember - just as you shouldn't paint Atheism in the blood spilled by Atheistic Dictatorships in the 20th century, so too should you not paint Christianity in the blood spilled by the Christian Monarchies of the late Roman through pre-Democratic eras

ROTFLMAO 'nuff said

"I beieve that the only reason that atheist continuoustly attack Christianity is basically because they know that with the right message they can easily be influenced by God."

If that were true we wouldn't be against christianity nor atheists for that matter. Btw christianity doesn't bring peace, tell that to the iraqis who lost their families

1) I don't believe in gods and could only be convinced of the existence of your god through proof, not religious teachings.

2) Christians, collectively, have a history of harbouring hate towards any and all non-Christians and attempts to convert them from their own beliefs or lack of. Unless contempt can bring peace to the world, Christianity certainly isn't the founder of the world's current state of semi-peace. I think you'll find that common sense and good national relations are the major factor.

3) When you open parenthesis you're supposed to close them when you're finished "whispering".

Christianity is not a bad thing, the christians are.

The christians are hardly the people I would call bringing peace to the world. Try telling that to the most powerful man in the world when he said god tell him to attack the middle east.

Anyway, Newsflash for you ....... Quite a number of atheists WERE christians.

Christianity in itself is not a bad thing. It is how people distort the word for their own satisfaction. I've seen peoples distorted believes tear apart families and create low self esteem and have seen it cause people to go crazy.

The biggest thing that I see as a problem is the Bible tells us it is not for us to judge but so called Christians are constantly judging others and doing so harshly. I have met very few Christians that did not do this and they usually end up being used and their trust abused.

I have never seen Christianity bring peace to anything let alone the World. It has destroyed us if anything.

I'm not a Christian, or an anti-Christian. It has a way of making some people very ugly. Those are the people that give Christians a bad name, and make those that hate Christians need a reason to hate them even more.

My question to you is: why should God have to influence anybody? Either you are a believer, or you're not.

Because of the consistent bad behavior of Christians, of course.

It's utterly dishonest of you to pretend not to recognize that fact. What would ever make you think that any good could come of you being so transparently dishonest about this?

"I beieve that the only reason that atheist continuoustly attack Christianity is basically because they know that with the right message they can easily be influenced by God"

Um, didn't put much thought into that part, did you?
Look at it again - eventually it'll come to you.

It brings peace to the world?

So many people have died because they weren't Christian or were but broke a rule. The Crusades? The period in the Middle Ages where they wiped out all the non-christians in spain (can't think of what it's called), the salem witch trials? Is that what you call peace?

EDIT: Shawn, us athiests/agnostics don't go around painting athiesm as wonderfully as christians do christianity. Y'all need to get off your high horse, you are just ONE religion of MANY.
