J. P. It's just that you are still in denial of it. And claiming that it's out of context only shows that you have been preconditioned to think one way about words that mean more things than one.

ALLIZDWAG,
no, you are in faith with what you believe, without proof. And furthermore you are willing to talk about it night after night even though you have no proof. And on top of that you are spending a lot of time discussing something that you've dismissed. Which baits the questions that I asked just now.

Why are you being religiously active with something that you've dismissed? Why does it mean so much to you? Are you in denial about religiously pursuing other religions, as if your own is the right one, and all others are wrong! That's what is called dedication to your faith. But to whom are you being loyal to, yourself?

Bl3ss3dw1thL1f,
Yes. You have it! They are in complete denial. Their hypocrisies are exposed!

Yeow Teng K,
There has been no scientific effeort that disproved God. So you are looking a little silly. Especially for calling me Great One. I am not great.

Athée (moonunit),
Rational and common sense? And if I don't agree with you about what you believe, it makes me irrational? Why not just study science if that is your thing. Why is Christianity and other religions so time consuming for you?

rickystt,
Not every day? You haven't been here long at all if you are going to say that! lol

I understand pessimists though. So I'll let you pass on the rest of what you said.

Im am astounded that athiests are SO scared of saying they have faith.

They WONT admit it, but believing the world just came to be and we evolved since no one has EVER seen it happen, is FAITH.

Just admit it people. This so called science takes as much faith as believing in God.!

Urm, it isn't faith to disbelieve the refuted claims of others. It's common sense.

You're claiming that atheism is irrational, hypocritical and that atheists are in denial.

What about though? Irrational about believing something without proof?

Hypocritical about what? Is this because we're allowed to call your denial of stuff like evolution irrational? I wonder if that's because evolution has proof?

And in denial about what? That gods exist? If we were in denial we're by Christians in denial, not atheists. And are you in denial about the existence of Odin and Thor? Now THAT would be hypocritical.

You've basically just made us aware of your unrealistic beliefs and nothing more. You haven't proven anything except that you're incredibly defensive over said beliefs.

By the way, I probably don't have to say this but, atheism is an antithesis, not a religion.

edit: "Rational and common sense? And if I don't agree with you about what you believe, it makes me irrational?"

Did I say that? No, I don't believe that I did. But then I am not the one forming a "question" telling you what you are. Whereas you *are* telling me that my atheism is a faith. Who is judging who here?

"Why is Christianity and other religions so time consuming for you?"

Time consuming? I have answered perhaps 4 questions here today. But no matter. The answer is simple: Christianity affects my life by trying to push its "morals" into my country's laws, a country which is supposed to stand for freedom regardless of religion, race, creed, etc. So yes, I have a vested interest.

*********

Call it what you will. Makes not one bit of difference to me. You want to call it faith? Fine. A religion? Have at it.

No where in your definition of faith are the words rational and common sense, but I am sure you'll conveniently overlook that part. Whatever.

Hmmm, it's not every day that a sophist lays out his/her faulty reasoning, step by step, for all to examine!

Let us *drink* to the Fallacy of Equivocation--or, as J.P. put it, word games.

Really, just how much "faith" does it take to conclude that snakes and donkeys don't talk, that there's not enough water on the planet to inundate the mountains of eastern Turkey, that it takes more than 2 Happy Meals to feed a crowd of 5000+, that dead people stay dead, and that a Being that behaves as if it doesn't exist really doesn't?

> Why are you being religiously active with something that
> you've dismissed? Why does it mean so much to you? ...

Whoops, you just made this a double-drink question.

Not believing impossible things makes me a pessimist?

@Blessedwithlife - The reason that we deny having faith is that we don't have faith. Is that really so hard to accept?

How many of you xians come here religiously to use circular reasoning to prove that your bible is true - meaning that you say it's true because the bible says it's true??

Atheism is more logical and, though there is no proof that god doesn't exist, reason stands that there probably isn't one.

So, atheism is not a faith. The burden of proving god is on you. Until that proof is given, god does not exist.

Funny, you're trying to suggest that atheism is a religion. Sorry atheism is the lack of religion. You are a full glass of faith in a god, I am an empty glass of faith in a god.

I come here to express my opinion, just as you do. I just happen to be right, and you're wrong. That's the difference.

Sorry about the last, just had to have a little dig at you. Lol

Not very sorry mind you, but I am a very tiny little bit sorry. You could probably see it with an electron microscope. lol :)

To a pagan Christians have faith in a group of men that contributed to a book and to the book itself.

Atheists have faith in themselves, as thinking beings.

Neither is any better or worse than someone who has faith in a rock or cash in hand.

Oh Great one, people says Christians love to rationalise what is said in the bible to suit their own needs and it seems you love to rationalise your action and implant it onto others, then rationalise it again and put it as the trait of others.

Oh Great one, this is hardly not despicable.

----------

Please, the fact of having no faith in the existence of god does not mean you have faith. So why should atheist claim to be something they are not?

Science does not take faith to believe, it takes evidences.

---------

Disprove god? Oh please, great one ..... you shall strive to disprove the toothfairy, Zeus, Torus, Wikiki man, FSM, and the next 2000 gods in line ..... If you don't, should you BELIEVE in everyone of them?

Anyway, for a start, please prove that the Ninja Turtles does not exists since it is all over the comics and cartoons.

It is not faith what can be proven.

I hold no faith, as per the second definition. The first definition, yes, but not in this context.

It's funny that you point out words have multiple meanings then intentionally attempt to misapply the various meanings. In any given usage, only one particular definition usually applies, it's very rare more than one does.

Is your belief really so weak you can only support it with such transparent word-games?
