Thats a very broad question. It's the same if I asked 'what attracts men?' There's different types fo women out there, no ones the same. However, the main essentials every women is attracted to is:

1) protection (a partner that can protect and secure her)
2) looks (you don't have to be Brad Pitt, some people like fat, skinny, bald, green, black)
3) confidence (anyone who is confident is sexy)
4) caring (like animals, humans also want a partner who can show that they can be there for you always and nurture you)

Honestly a lot of women notice looks first but that's not what makes a relationship last. If a woman is really looking for a man who she can be with then she will go for personality. To me confidence shines most more than any other aspect of a man's personality. If he is insecure it shows. Also, I am a sucker for a guy who can make me laugh. If he's making me laugh then I'm having a good time and feeling comfortable at the same time. Definitley worth hanging out with. Above all, if you act like yourself then you know the role you're playing and you confidence will shine through. If not, it's easy for women to scope out a guy who is trying too hard and all it gives us is a laugh. Relax, be yourself and lighten up- be humorous about the situation at hand- that's what will really win a woman over - go straight for her heart. Make her feel adored and like you are having an awesome time with her and mean it- that's what's good.

you can accomplish anything with self-assurance and insecure people -who also might be highly attractive but focus too much on it (lot of pretty girls are like this) are drawn to the security of a confident man.
