I have a crush on a guy that is in a band. My dad knows him and his father. I have never spoken to him. He always makes eye contact every time I see him, my dad also said that the guy couldn’t keep his eyes off me the whole night. Whenever he is on his break from the band I can never get away from the people that I am with to go near the area that he is in. I know that he is single.
Do you think it is wrong for me to go up to him and talk to him?
What should I say?

Yes go for it. There is no harm in talking to someone and getting to know them. Taking the first step can be difficult for men and women but when someone does take the chance it could work out for the best. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work out as a relationship if that is what you want, but he wont turn down talking to you, unless he is rude and has no communication skills. Maybe he is interested in you, and is not sure about how to go about speaking to you or approaching you, by taking that step it can help take some of the pressure off of him. all men are different so I cant say for sure that this particular guy is the kind that likes the take charge type of woman. But by making conversation with him you aren't being forward or pushy and there is no harm in it. If you like him go for it.

There is absolutely no shame when women are the first to approach men. And you are right it's all in the how you do the approach.
Personally if a woman approaches me with the interest of trying to get to know me I wouldn't mind even if I am not interested in them. Of course at some point i would make it necessary to point out that all I want and expect in our interaction is a friendly atmosphere.
In the end, like in most things in life, it will be more of a shame if one did not try at all.

No I think that's fine. I like it when girls approach me. You should just go up and say hi, tell him you like his music, if you really do. Make sure he is single and then ask if he would like to go do something sometime. If he says yes, make plans there and then, it is sometime awkward to do it latter, try dinner, or go to hear another band. Just make sure you can do something where you both can talk and get to know each other. So that means going to like a movie is out. This will give you a chance to get to know him better and see if he is someone you could see yourself dating.

When I was single, I was far too shy to do the approaching MOST of the time, unless the guy LOOKED interested but was even more shy than I was... But I ain't single and haven't been since I was 20 years old.

No it is not wrong, if you like him and you feel he does as well then go go girl, what are you waiting for? Well, some guys don't like to be approach by women , they wanted for them to go running for the woman and if the woman did that they seems to be cold but anyways we are in the 20th century so i would say you go and approach this guy , who knows that will be the start of something very special.
