This is called corrective coloring. Never try to do this yourself. You will be spending double getting someone to fix it if you mess up! I am a hairdresser for 19 years. I know. An expert will be able to explain how color works- there are many factors. Do you swim and have chlorine in your hair? Do you already have old color on your hair? The best colors to use are the professional ones- not store bought. And no they are NOT all the same. Good luck!

ok, dont use box color because it is a metallic dye. Go to sally beauty supply, buy the color and develper and mix it yourself. To get the effect, do a zigzag parting from the back on one ear to the other. First, color the bottom brown. In order to get the blonde on top, you will most likely have to bleach it out and then tone it. While the brown is processing, apply the bleach to tthe top. Once you wash all of that out, put a toner on your hair all over to get rid of any orange and there u go.. You can put the toner on all over because it doesnt lift color so the brown wont be effected

all hair dyes are about the same, the biggest difference is the price, get what you can afford, there are written instructions inside the box. Have fun
