Ok, I know LOTS of people who don't have their license and they want to buy cars. BUT lets say (hypothetically speaking) my very old, non-licensed grandmother wanted to buy me a car. If I'm at the dealership with her and can show my own license, can she buy the car for me?

I would really like to know the LEGAL answer to this. :)

Thanks!

Lets also assume I can show proof of (current) insurance. So, my license, my insurance, someone elses name on financing and possibly title(?) only.

I have never had to provide a license to buy a car.. only identification.. I believe that you do not need a license to actually purchase the vehicle (some rich people buy cars without having a license.. but they have drivers)...

You only need a license to drive the vehicle on PUBLIC roads.. you can buy one and drive it on private property without a license.

In Montana you have to show proof of INSURANCE to complete the purchase of a car, not proof of a license. Problem is most insurance companies won't insure you if you don't have a license. So in my state if the dealership did their job Grandmother couldn't buy the car because she would not be able to show proof of insurance because she can't get insurance without a license.

I believe a person..licensed or not can purchase a car. They just would not be able to drive it. Check your local state laws
