I mean he keeps smiting all the wrong people. Good Christian families get hit by trains. Nice Christians getting cancer, ms, and other horrible ailments. Etc. Or is it because everyone is a sinner god is punishing them? Wouldn't he give you AIDS first before giving AIDS to a newborn?

What you don't seem to grasp is that evil is indiscriminate. Our actions can and do affect others for good or bad. Which is why no doubt God hates it so much. But to not allow people free will would make them pre programmed robots. If you choose to live in the real world you will find it full of good and bad things. Unfortunately that is the price. To deny free will would leave you with what other option? If we cannot choose then we are programmed in which case arguing would futile because undoubtedly our arguments would be part of the program. Sometimes I am amused by some responders apparent confusion they seem to get angry when you suggest that free will is involved and some also get upset and the notion that they have evolved to believe what they believe. Is there any other option? Sure some might say use your mind but this is just an organ full of chemicals that also supposedly evolved. Can one control their own evolution? If so then they have proven they can exert their free will to interfere with their own evolution.

Re your additional details...the Bible talks of curses on families for generations...an adult has chosen to inflict aids on the child...not the child itself. How a person behaves can bring problems to their own families for generations. We are all supposed to behave responsibly. God was not responsible for the child getting aids...a human was.
I am a 'born again' Christian and God keeps smiling on me.....All the ailments in modern sociey can be traced back to mans inhumanity to man in some way...even aids, cancer, ms etc...If man had lived the life God prepared for him, then we would have none of these problems in the world. God no longer punishes sinners as he did in the Old Testament...The New Testament heralded the coming of Gods Grace, mercy, compassion and forgiveness.
Perhaps a little study of the Bible might reveal some truths to you and you might as a result want to seek Gods face.
Best wishes, Mike.

It may seem that way but even being a good christian can be decieving. Many who claim to be are not. So if you add those up with those who don't believe, it would be pretty even. Things just happen. This is a fallen world.

Besides maybe God protects those who will choice him later in life. He doesn't want any to perish. But those who don't believe and get cancer will never be healed, but those who do believe and have cancer will be cured. After death they will be ressurrected meaning cured of their disease.

Good Grief! God gave us free will. God does not wish us any pain. We bring pain on our selves. By the way how do you explain the billions of people that are happy and have good lives. Free will means we have choices.

Now all the religious fanatics will spout the 'free will' line. Its pointless trying to make sense of it.

God is not a christian, even christ was not a christian, just his followers. So don't blame it on god, blame it on the trains and unprotected sex.

the only thing we can know for sure about God is, and I quote J.B.S. Haldane the noted British evolutionary biologist: "he must have an inordinate fondness for beetles"
