~Not a rude comment, but if I'm hiring and have to choose between a 19 year old with no job experience and a 16 year old high school kid, I'm going with the ambitious one every time. And that ain't you.

I worked thru high school and still lettered in sports while keeping a fairly active social life. In college, I worked a 48 hour week while carrying a full load of classes. I dropped the overtime in grad school, but I got married then. You really can't justify your lack of work experience other than through lack of ambition, and most employers know that. Add to that that the high school kids will still be around when summer is over. Keep trying, but don't get your hopes up.

Your application shows that you haven't had a "real" job. People were sufficiently interested to interview you anyway, so your problem isn't lack of experience. Punctuality counts, then appearance and grooming, then attitude. Be courteous, honestly listen to what's being asked, don't interrupt, don't use foul language, and sound like you want the job and are eager to learn. When asked about work experience, answer with something that you've done, in a responsible manner, that is at least somewhat related to the question. Don't put yourself, or the job, down during the interview. Don't wait for a callback from them, at least call the next day and thank them for the interview. If they turn you down then, ask what you can do better in your next job interview.

If there is a day-labor service in town, like Labor Ready, put in your application and be there when they open up every morning. Don't turn down anything offered and show some hustle when you get a gig - the person who hired you as a 1-day temp will remember you when they need somebody for a week or a month, and you'll get something to write down on your next job application.

#1. You should take an inventory of what skills you have.

#2. Retail is always hiring. Go to some stores.

#3. Summer job for a college student - with all the papers you type you should know how to format letters. Also office work like receptionist answers phones.

Go to a temp agency like Apple One...

Call them or any employment agency in your area and set up an interview (if you want to work as a temp in an office 9 bucks an hour is reasonable).

Next year, start applying in April for your summer job.

Good Luck.
