Blackberries and Black Raspberries are not the same and have a different flavor. In the plant world they are of the same genus called Rubus but the The Common Blackberry is known as Rubus fruticosus and the Black raspberry is known as Rubus occidentalis. Both, Black Raspberries and Blackberries contain significant amounts of polyphenol antioxidants such as anthocyanin pigments linked to potential health protection against several human diseases. In choosing between the two berries, it is a matter of preference to flavor.
