Depends on your state. I know Texas is 1500 hours. It took me a year full time.

Depending upon the school of your choice, you are looking at 'hours' instead of years of completion. Many schools offer not only hair, but skin, nails, etc. This is what is offered through Mr. John's School of Cosmotology. Most of them are about the same. Keep in mind that the state laws work in conjunction with the various schools so that you can complete your hours and become licensed. Good luck.

Basic Training 150 hours
Practical Chemical Application/Hair Treatments 500 hours
Hair Styling/Hairdressing 475 hours
Shop Management 200 hours
Esthetics 85 hours
Manicuring 55 hours

it depends on how many hours your state requires. i live in mass and i only needed 1000 hours. but i went to a tech school and spent 4 years in it. which is probably any persons best bet because you learn more and are more prepared then those who only have schooling for a year or so. but otherwise... it's usually anywhere from 8 months to a year and a half.

It depends on what state you are in and how much you want to go. California is 1600 hours and it can take 8 months if if go 40 hours a week or much longer if you don't as much.
