The 2.6 back in 89 was fueled by 2bbl japanese fluid filled heat choke assembly. The entire carb was caged around by a carbiloid steel cage so no one could change the specks on it.
It was deveoped in japan and Iacoca bought the entire engine, carberator and emmision system from them with out realizing that it would't pass emmisions in the US because Japan had no emssion standards at that time. Japan refused to give out any technical information on that carb and crysler struggled fro years trying to get it to perform right. If you do find one the most common problem is the fluid control choke system. If it leaks out or is not expanding properly the engine won't start and there is no fix for the problem. We had to replace the entire carb at a cost of $450.00 and up.
The engine it self was well maid, very close tolerances and if the carbs didn't fail could go 3000,000 miles.

They still may have some around over seas but you will have to do a lot of reshearch. If you do find one the best thing to do is drill the cage off carb, reset your idle screws that also will have to be drilled out, and put a hand choke on. Set back the timming and disconect the primary and secondary EGR linkage or clean them out. they plug up in just a few thousand miles. You may never get rid of the pigging unless you use high grade fuel. The fuel filter also needs to be put in a different location so it won't over heat and you end up with vaporization and then stalling or hard starting.

Same plastic body carb was used on Dodge mini vans and early mazda 2.6 liter pick-ups. Your wishing for a lot but if you find a new one buy it no matter the cost. 19 year old carbs are rare. Most all the trucks with that engine have passed away.
