I looked around for businesses that were currently hiring. Around here, many stores have "Now Hiring" signs up everywhere for summer. I went in and asked for an application. I filled it out and returned it. Some places may not even go as far as calling you back for an interview (depending on your application) but the manager called me that day. We scheduled an interview. I went in ( was very nervous) and I got hired. I am still working there and it's gotten loads better since I started..it was very overwhelming at first.

I was lucky with my position. As a nightfiller at Big W, there were 6 vacant positions. In the interview, I asked why the position was vacant. To a reply, the lady says it is hard to find nightfillers these days, as many who are young still go to school and therefore would have to wake up early in the mornings (nightfills are like till 7pm to midnight) and most don't have a drivers licence (which I stated on my resume) and most change jobs very quickly. That could be the reason how I got offered a position.

well, ask if they are hiring, dress nice, be polite, dont ask for too much money on the application
DONT PUT PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE IF YOU WORKED FOR 3 MONTHS THEN QUIT, WORKED FOR 3 MONTHS, THEN QUIT! most employers are looking for someone reliable....try to be available to work on weekends and holidays.
