What are the benefits of bi-amping a set of comonents?

I currently have a 4 channel amp powering front and rear speakers. I dont like how the rear speakers sound with the front speakers. I like the true stereo imaging I get from only having the fronts connected. Should I bridge the channels on my amp to power the front components? Or should I bi-amp them? Or should I just leave it with the rears disconneted? Im am eventually going to test this all my self, but was basically wondering the benefits of bi-amping.

Thanks

The main advantage to bi-amping a component set is that it allows you to fine-tune the tweeter output level. Often component tweeters can be a little too prominent, so it's nice to be able to turn them down.

If you want to bi-amp, you need to make sure you either have a built-in amplifier crossover or a separate crossover that's flexible enough for your needs. Not all amps have crossover settings suitable for tweeters.

Unless you need the extra power, I wouldn't bridge the amp for the components. Just leave it in 4-channel mode and disconnect the rears if you choose not to bi-amp.

You already are on your way to great stereo imaging by stating how it sounds better without the rear speakers.

Run the tweeters from the components off the front channels from the amp, run the woofers from the rear channels. This will allow not only better sound b/c of more power, but also better fading capabilities.

Good Luck!

Regardless of what anyone tells you.

Get another amp
Have one go to the front, and one go to the rear and subs if any

The reason is, you will have much better quality and sound.
And you don't have to get two expensive ones either.
You can get a nice cheaper one for the front.

And both together will not overdraw, or underdraw each other because it will use the same power as if one were being used

the only benefit is to attract attention to yourself.
