I've always wondered..
If a police was going after someone on a street with signals, and a person was standing on the cross walk (lets just say this person was a little..slow..literally..) and the police hit the person. Would they stop for help or go after the other car, who could possibally have a child or anyone. I've always wanted to know this.

The officer would stop for the injured pedestrian. If I was their supervisor and something like that happened they'd better stop anyway.

The only reason I could think of that the officer wouldn't stop would be if they were pursuing someone that was an imminent and greater danger to the public. For lesser crimes, the life of the struck pedestrian takes precedence.

It all depends on the police officer. Some would help no matter what the circumstances were and others might still keep chasing the bad guy. You can't just generalize what all police officers do because they are all different people.

Cops would keep going and radio in for support to take care of the casualty they just caused.

Think of another example. Medics are on the way to a man having a heart attack and they hit someone. Do they stop and take care of the man they just hit and say to hell with the man dying of the heart attack? Of course not. Number one priority stays number one priority.

My opinion is they should stop for the simple reason the police should have stopped the chase in the situation you described

You stop and give first aid and call for medics code 3. The bad guy will get caught by the other cops that are on their way for backup.

they most like wouldn't stop but becuase right after someones starts to run fromthem they call in bacj up they would have them look after the person or they would stop and take care of them and let the other chase the guy.

btu in most cases they would stop and let the guy go but still take the licenes plate number for other to look for.

If the cop has good ethics then he would stop and help but if he's an idiot the he'd probably say "oh I think i hit a dog".

depends on the criticality of the situation either the officer will stop and let the others find the vehicle or have one of the others stop and keep going to stop the vehicle

They would continue the pursuit while notifying dispatch of the wounded pedestrian.
