Boycotts by Hispanics
Some Hispanic groups, meanwhile, are trying another tactic aimed at curtailing talk radio's role in shaping the immigration debate.

They are threatening to launch local and national boycotts against businesses that advertise on conservative talk radio programs.

"If we take away the sponsors, then we will greatly diminish the impact of conservative talk radio," said Jon Garrido, who runs the Phoenix-based Web site, Hispanic News, and is organizing a boycott.

The boycott is supported by Phoenix-based Imimgrants Without Borders and San Diego-based Border Angels.

Garrido said he will call for a boycott of Bashas' and Food City unless the Arizona grocery-store chain stops purchasing ads on KFYI. Nationally, calls are being made for boycotts of Wells Fargo Bank and Home Depot.

Why limit Freedom of Speech with boycotts. I plan on going to these stores if that happens.

Since they insist that we should shut up everything that's displeasing, let's also take away their first amendment rights. Oh, what a slippery slope.

I like this part.....

Bashas' defies threats
Mike Proulx, president and chief operating officer of Bashas', which owns Food City, said the chain will not stop advertising because of boycott threats.

He said advertising on a particular station does not mean Bashas' endorses the content.

"This whole issue of boycotting and hurting Bashas' because we advertise on a particular radio station that might cause controversy goes against the grain of this great nation of ours. People have a right to choose," Proulx said.

Well, right after Americans voiced their opinion on that terrible amnesty bill, AZ passed a law to fine or even close any business that employs illegals.
We have MUCH more leverage against illegals than they have against us. If this law works, they will have to turn around and leave when no one will hire them.

Also, I just cannot understand why any American would think that illegals have the rights of citizens. We do not have to give these criminals any rights.

Will not work.

Free speech on a radio station is what this country is about. Don't like what they're saying change the station.

Unlike the global warming, liberal garbage force fed to our children in public schools.

Talk radio is too popular. Besides, I am Hispanic and usually check out places sponsoring talk radio.

where i live i didn't hear anything on the radio. i came here to this site and found out what illegals was doing. i was one of those Americans who had a blind eye to illegals, i felt sorry for them. don't get me wrong, i still do feel bad for them. but i also think if they are making demands here, why can't they can do it in their own country?

congress needs to realize we have freedom of speech. first the illegals want to silence us, now it seems our own govt wants to silence us Americans. i say we keep fighting them until every last communist is out of office. thanks for the info.

why should conservative radio "shut up"? is it because you don't like them and the hispanics don't like them? now really do you think you and the hispanic community are that important that the american people will give up one of their basic freedoms to appease you? talk radio does not control the thoughts and feelings of the american people. they simply are not afraid to speak what is on the minds of a lot of american people. why does this worry you?

Their first error is thinking that talk radio of any kind is what influences American's views of illegal immigrants. Most of us don't need talk radio to tell us how to think.

Their second mistake is trying to infringe on our freedom of speech. Yet another reason to send them packing.

Not a suprising tatic. They are grasping at straws now. Their support is fading.
I agree with the other poster, take away their first amendment "rights" as they are trying to do & see how they like it.
I honestly don't think it will work.

I think that not only should the illegals boycott the businesses but should also march in front of them. That way they are easy to round up and ship back to their own country! To answer your question, I don't think it will work.
