It's important to realize that when a self-proclaimed atheist is posting and reading on R&S and trolling with questions against God that they are thinking about spiritual things and are more open to the gospel of Jesus Christ that can lead them to repentance and salvation than at any other time in their lives. You do understand that slandering God and Jesus is their way of defending their guilty consciences, right? You get that they are desperately denying God because they are afraid of His judgement and of hell, don't you? Will you promise to always be patient and loving toward agnostics and so-called atheists who troll this board and always give them the message of hope that Christ has entrusted to you? Will you remember to pray for each and every one of them?

Lord, please soften their hearts and their seared consciences and make Yourself known to them. Prepare their hearts that they might, repent, turn and believe and be saved from damnation. Amen.

In theory that is a good point. In practicality, it is very hard point to always adhere to.

Blah blah blah. Ok, now I'm supposed to read your words and be filled with such conviction that I run to the nearest church and throw myself on the altar to beg for forgiveness, right?

I come on the R&S board because it's as entertaining (and inane), if not more, than the lives of Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. Oh ya, and I have an axe to grind.

Gee, lad, it's amusing, it's surprisingly well-written (which is a rare thing among Fundies hereabouts), but I shouldn't cast myself as God if I were you. You are not, are you? (Just checking). Hip-pocket psychology is popular in these times...what's that nitwit's name, Dr. Phil?)...but it seems not to work for me in this instance. I am certainly not 'close' to something which doesn't exist, and, young sir, there are no gods, there have never been gods, there shall never be gods. It does me no harm to say it here because it is true, it is, in fact, the absolute truth.

Liar.

Doesn't the fact that you have to lie so much to defend your beliefs tell you something about the quality of those beliefs? It should.

I know there is no god because I understand why man created gods (or a god)

I know too much to ever be conned into belief again.

Faith is the surrender of the mind...

I believe they have the same motives as most of us, to make others "see the light" or rather the truth about the world. And I know many peopel to believe God to be omnipresent, SO HOW IN THE WORLD DOES BEING ANYWHERE MAKE THEM CLOSER TO HIM?

You make it sound like we live in an atheist vacuum. The truth is, here is the only place I meet atheists. My life is surrounded by Christianity. Using your logic, I'm the furthest from God here.

Could you possibly manage to be any more patronizing?

I'll tell you what's on my 'guilty conscience'. Yesterday I went five whole miles over the speed limit. It was wrong. I'm obviously a wild and degenerate person who spends her evenings reading books and listening to classical music.

I don't care what faith they chose to lead or if they don't lead one at all. As long as they have a strong stance on SOMETHING I am fine. The one thing I cannot stand is a floater who does nothing and has no opinion on anything.

I personally believe and I don't expect them to change their ways. I will not press my religon on them as long as they don't press Atheism on me.
