Well, where else would you store your cows, I MEAN...wives. They're only women after all. Only priesthood holders are WORTHY of an actual house.

Where do you get 51 wives? I don't believe he had more than 30, and not at any one time.
Also, not all of them lived in the Lion house. One lived in the Behive house, and Brigham Young had homes all thru Utah, and he kept a wife in each of those homes.
And before he died, he deeded a house to each of his surviving wives.

WEll actually I have been to the beehive house in UT, its open for tours and its a big house anyone can go and see where he housed all the wives and see the rooms and the dolls he got for his girls and eat the honey candy that they made back then, there is even a posh resturant in the livingroom they use to all gather in and eat, it serves a posh four course meal for anyoen that can afford the top notch resturante fee. Its all preserved for nonmormons and mormons alike. It seemed very nice to me, but you have to remember he was the top authority and got all the tithing, so he wouldn't have low income accomidations.

I'm anything but pro-mormon. To be fair, this looks more like a hotel of its day, like Lake Hotel in Yellowstone Park, than a "stable."

I would guess that with that many, he would have to have something pretty big to keep them all in. I am not a Mormon and do not endorse or countenance such activity.

Actually, his Saint George residence housed them in the Attic. It's a nice attic, full of sewing and other womanly duties stuff (including several beds). It was his 'vacation home' and evidently he did not travel 'light'.
This guy was 'closer to heaven' than any of us can cream about.

Every man needs to provide a "stable" home for his wife.
