artist Cortex Matas do you know anything about him?

I am looking for information on this oil painter from spain. I know he has a painting hanging at Brown University.And he is the only artist that I have seen sign his name in the upper left hand corner of his paintings.I need all the info I can get please. Maybe he has a website you can lead me to Thanks so much!!!

Found your portrait... one problem though, before I search further... it's signed lower right (look at the link). Are you certain it's this artist?

This portrait of Morehouse was completed by Matas Cortez. Just under his signature, Cortez wrote "Madrid". The portrait was most likely based on a photograph. A closer look at the background shows a war scenario with a medical tent, soldiers, and tanks, all referring to the life of Charles Henry Morhouse, who is depicted in military uniform.
