The Koran permits Muslims to lie when the lie will lead to the advancement of Islam. Under what circumstances could we be sure that a Muslim is telling the truth and not lying because they believe their lie will promote Islam?

How do we know anyone is telling the truth?

Paul did the same thing to win converts to Xtianity, and you don't find people saying this about Xtians.

I prefer to put it this way: there are some people who are not telling the truth and among them there are also some Muslims.
I am Muslim, but I am not saying that all Muslim are always telling the truth. We are all human being.
You should ask something like : "How do you know when someone is telling the truth?"
You sound that all liars in the world are among the Muslims, and that is far away from truth.

Because the user doesn't allow IM's I will comment here Vladimir's answer: " My personal experience is that as a group, they are easily the most dishonest people in the world. "
My personal opinion Mr. Vladimir is that you are full of hate. Vlad the Impaler was a very cruel person and you have chosen his picture for your display. That says a lot about you.
You should learn to respect before tolerate other religions and beliefs.

You people are misinformed about Islam by those people who distort the truth. These people mislead you by giving you the partial truth and omit some of the crucial details. Lying is not permitted... and it is in fact a great sin in Islam. However, as with any situation, there are exceptions to the rule. The only circumstance under which lying is permitted is in a life-or-death situation, when 'lying' (in most cases about your faith) saves you from being killed by the enemy. However, this is optional, and one can be brave and choose to sacrifice his/her life for the sake of their religion. This clearly does not mean that lying is permitted.

I don't really see any point to the question except to slam Muslims but it does make me wonder something. Christians aren't supposed to lie. Muslims, if you;re correct, can lie under certain circumstances. Since many Christians lie anyway what makes them better than Muslims?

Us Muslims can lie all we want. In fact this is why I love Islam. I lie all the time so do my Muslim brothers and sisters.

So if you think muslims are lying all the time to advance Islam, do you think I'm lying when I say I condemn the terrorists and think they are totally wrong and should be captured and pay for their misdeads? After all if you think muslims lie to further Islam then this must mean that you think I secretly do support them. Ridiculous question.

Unfortunately this is a main point concerning Islam/muslems (of Nowadays). Just enough is to know that there is the concrete possibility that they are saying liars: so, we have to RELY on what they practically do or do-not-do, instead of rely on what they say. Inner Light.

What does the Muslim religion have to do with lying? Lying is not monopolized by any religion. Christians lie too as do all religions.

What the difference if they lie to promote Islam or if you lie to promote yourself or your own philosophy? This is a really dumb and insulting question, and I'm not even a Muslim.

The top government scientists are figuring that out as we speak. Special Electromagnetic waves could be the answer. God knows what the covert Black Projects out west are cooking up.

If they are talking about Islam, they must be lying, all other things are possible to be the truth. You could probably say that about all religions. Did you the protestant nonsense out of the Pope today.
