Well, i never knwe my father. My mother never talks about him or anything, neither does anyone else in my family. My mother always told me that i just don't have a father, i was young at the time so didn't "know" things if you know what i mean by that. But now that i am old enough i do know what it takes to create a child. She hasn't said anything about it or anything, and i'm afraid to ask her about it. Is there any other way to find out? I don't know his name or anything, nothing at all. Is there anything that is easy? Like i stated, i'm afriad to ask her, and i don't feel like a blood test or whatever they are. I'm afriad to ask anyone in my family but my sister, but she doesn't even know who he is, she just knows that we have the same father and that's it. I'm starting to feel as if i was adopted or something, and i just don't know what to do, help me out here, please?

There's nothing on my birth certificate about him and my mother got engaged last fall (2006) and i balled my eyes out because of it so yeah...you get the picture. It would just be nice to know his name at least

hi -- i'm sorry you're going through this, because i know it's a source of confusion

my older son never knew his father, and as he got older, he wondered, too.

he did write his father and never got another response, which i do believe broke his heart. however, he's a grown man of 31 now, has his own family and is very successful and happy. just saying this because he has proven you don't have to have a father to be happy in life or to be successful.

i think it would be perfectly fine to express your feelings about this to your mother and to let her know it's very important to you to know who he is.

i imagine he broke her heart at one time, and perhaps that is why she doesn't talk about him.

take care and i hope things work out.

It's normal for you to want some answers, and your mother should understand this. However... it could be for a really painful reason that she's not telling you. (rape? a married man?)

This is a tough call... are there any other relatives you're close to? I'd pick the one who's closest to you (grandparent? special aunt or uncle?) and confide that you've always wondered about your father and don't want to ask your mother because it's clearly something that she doesn't want to talk about. They'll probably know why she doesn't want to talk about it. But you should emphasize that if they were in your position, they'd wonder too, and it's hard to go through life with this feeling of void.

It doesn't mention a name on your birth certificate? Or your sister's?

You don't say how old your are, not that it really mattered, wanting to know who your father is - is only natural. If you are not yet 18, I would say sit until you reach the age of majority (in the US) and then I believe you can start a paper search. But if your Mother hasn't put him on any of your documents, then you will just have to go by word of mouth. If your Mother was young, and received any type of governmental assistance, she would have had to name a father before she could have received same, so your local agency that assists family with children could be a way to start. Also know that all things in time, it might not be the time for you to know who your father is. God Bless.

Maybe she is trying to protect you and your sister, because he could be some horrible being in prison. Maybe he has harmed a child or is a serial killer. I believe those would be the only two reason I would not want my child to know her father.

???? Maybe he is in the Government Wittiness Protection Program????? Stranger things R possible.

You need to tell your mom that you want to know who your dad is and tell her that you have a right to know. If she won't tell you even then ask her why she does'nt want you to know. Maybe there is a good reason but she needs to tell you SOMETHING. And if all else fails, ask another adult in the family. Make a nuisance of yourself until someone listens.

His name should be on your birth certificate. You could use that as a starting point.

Look up your birth certificate and see what it says.

The only person with these answers is your mom. Do you have an aunt or granny that can tell you? If not, you may never know.
