As a NASCAR fan, how do you like the changes over the past five years such as the COT, the point system, stricter rules, impound races, qualifying, etc.????

I am curious about opinions not only involving the monetary impact on the sport itself, the impact on the fan base as whole, but what you personally liked and don't like.

The COT is different and I understand the concept but I hate the rear wing, but I think they need to modify how it turns and the amount of front downforce it has.

The Chase is sort of okay. I like having a Chase, but I don't like how the points are reset, but I like having more points for wins, and I wish their were points for poles, and more points for leading the most laps. I also think that the points being reset is stupid but they should be given bonus points for wins. I also like the $1 million dollar bonus they used to have. I also think it should be limited to 10 drivers and no more.

The stricter rules I think are okay, I mean I think they should have a little grey area and define what areas the teams can and cannot work in more clearly as their has to be some confusion.

Impound races are nothing new really and I dont see the impact it has really, except some guys are going to have race setups and others are going to have qualifying setups, and I guess that its cool because you cant change anything besides the certain things your allowed to change and other then that you have to wait until the race so the good drivers shine through more I think.

The qualifying rule was good, but it needs to be modified now that there are 53 teams trying to qualify in and alot of good teams are going home, so it needs to be like the top 20 or something like top 25 maybe. A number less then 35 though. I also dont see why people are throwing a fit about the rain canceling qualifying and them going back on points, as they did this a few weeks ago and no one complained, I mean its just because alot of the go or go homers got sent home. I know its unfair but you cannot control mother nature. Simple as that.

So hope that answers your question pretty well.

Overall, I like the changes that have been made, but I'm kind of torn over the CoT. Initially, I really disliked the looks of it, but Im sure in time it will be easier to get used to seeing. I felt the same about the Lumina/Taurus after the Aerowars years (early 80's-late 80's). The fact that its significantly safer than anything the sport has seen in the past is enough for me to at least try to learn to like it. Once its seen a few more races and the off-season testing, I'm guessing the CoT will make the sport a lot more competitive.

I have been one who did not like some of the changes, but have been proved wrong every time.
The chase was a good idea. I think they should have left it at 10 drivers. The top 10 has a certain prestige to it.
I love the COT car. All the aero stuff, the cars being all twisted up, just was not good.
Some future changes?
>I think they need to shorten the Pocono races to 400 miles.
>They need to change the top 35 rule to the top 30.
>Drivers not locked in should have their own qualifying session at the beginning of qualifying, and this session cannot be rained out. (They do it the next day, just for those 20 cars or so)
>Winning the pole = 5 bonus pts.

I think Marc is a little young for NASCAR to be worried about what he may or may not do in any of their series when he is older. I think that the suggestion of raising the minimum age (they haven't decided anything yet) has more to do with Joey Logano's development and his pending cup ride with JGR after he turns 18 this summer. It has been said that he is the next Jeff Gordon and NASCAR might not want this kid to come in and start whooping on the veterans right away. It would also be a huge boost to the popularity of the Nationwide Series if young talents like Joey HAD to race there until they turned 21, or whatever age they were to decide on. What part of Africa is Marc Davis from? I thought he was from Pennsylvania.

Nascar over is not to bad, but the top35 in points are lock in for the race is crap. You quaified for the race or load up and try next week. I was not to keen on the COT cars until I got to see one up close and mind my mind. They may ugly looking cars but overall safety wise they are lot more safer than th cars they are still running. One other thing if the car doesn't meet Nascar specs and fees, penalties & points are taken away and crew chiefs are made to watch from their living the driver should also be home watching. I believe this would stop most of the cheating. Great Question

I'm not sure I'm fond of the COT yet. I understand its supposed to be more safety for the drivers; although it seems they can't do anything to the vehicle without getting penalized. I can understand if they're messing with security and safety issues. But to move like a fender up or down. Something stupid its getting a little ridiculous if you ask me. I'm a huge fan of the sport and I also want to complain why they say a race will start at 6:00pm; why it doesn't start till like 7:30 or 8:00 pm. its getting kinda riduculous with all the talking and commercials they have to show. It makes you not want to watch it anymore.....

I don't like the way they qualify. It should be the fastest cars first. I don't like the way they do the provisionals. And qualifying with rain on the way, that's not fair to the guys who get up front just to cancel the whole thing and go by owners points.
The cot is here to stay, so we all have to get used to it, like it or not, which I don't really care for myself. Yes, no more bump drafting either.
Another thing is the sponsorship of the whole thing. It's okay for them to change their name midway through but not a sponsored car, like cingular to att&t. I know, it was in the contract, but it's not fair.
I don't think the point system is as fair as it should be, but I'm used to it now. It needs to be tweaked a little more, and I have no idea how.

Overall, things change, and it is what it is.
But, I'll always be a fan.

I don't like the COT all that much its really ugly and I don't care much for the point system or the chase qualifying don't bother me and the stricter rules only bother me to an extent

I don't like the qualifying system. It should be changed and they should throw out the past champion provisionals. These guys are never competetive and are just taking up a spot that a good race team could use.
