To show the respect due to God's Holy Word what would be the proper way to dispose of a very, very, very worn Bible!
I have an old pocket Bible I have carried for years and don't really want to get rid of but it is literally falling apart!
AND THERE'S NO WAY IT'S GONNA HIT THE TRASH!

That's actually a good question and one I dont really know the answer to. If you're Catholic, I would suggest calling your parish. The secretary will probably know the answer. If you're of another denomination, I would still suggest calling the pastor's secretary. If the person you speak to doesnt know the answer, I am fairly confident s/he will get back to you.

Put it in the paper recycle bin. The Bible contains the Word of God but it is still a perishable book and once it's too worn out to be of any use it should be discarded. If it has some sentimental value then put it in some type of repair cover or something like that and keep it in a place where you can remember all of the times that you read and learned and were edified and encouraged from that particular Bible.

You have 3 options. One is have a proper burial ceremony for it and bury it. Another is to burn it. Or you can keep it in your cupboard and leave it there. These are the ways to dispose of papers containing the name of G-d prescribe to the Jews. Throwing it into the trash will get you into trouble.

Due to environmental issues, I suggest that you either have a burial or just keep the Bible in your cupboard.

After talking to a friend, you have another option. You can ask your religion authorities to help you properly dispose the Bible. So, approaching a priest, pastor or minister will be a good idea.

The Scripture contain the written sacred name of God. Take the Bible that has become worn and wrap it in a protective white or brown colored cloth, take it to your church, ask your clergy to place the worn scripture with an appropriate liturgy of committal.

Never bum an old Bible. Never place what is Holy in a dumpster, in these end days this would signal just the opposite of what we want to say about the Bible.

Oh, boy. I don't want this to sound like it's going to sound, but in all seriousness the most reverent and respectful way to dispose of it (unless you just want to keep it put away somewhere for your grandchildren??) is to burn it, by itself, and then bury the ashes. This returns the book to the earth, where all of its parts originated. And by burning it, the words are no longer on the pages.

Of course, the Word isn't paper and ink ... but I know what you mean about a disposal dilemma when it comes to such things.

i don't understand. The final Bible I had that could have wiped out have been given stolen by making use of a few guy for the ten or so funds of tithe income it. He became additionally stealing human beings credit enjoying cards and exams in the residing house i became residing in. while the guy who owned the residing house got here upon the thief's stash, he could have been merciful and not reported him to the police. regardless of the undeniable fact that, through fact he discovered my Bible between the stolen articles, and he found out the guy might even thieve a Bible, he did report him to the police, and the guy went back to detention center, for years. So, the ethical of the story, is don't be such an fool which you may even thieve a Bible, yet i don't understand the right thank you to get rid of a Bible that's falling aside. My final Bible did not get the possibility to fall down for me to ever be curious adequate to ask somebody.

Bibles are not considered "blessed" items and as such, may be disposed of in the manner you see fit. However, it seems like you want to be tasteful about it, so perhaps wrapping it in a paper bag might be a more respectful way to dispose of it. If you can't bear to see it thrown in with garbage for your own personal reasons, then you may want to just find your own creative way to part with it -- burying it perhaps, or leaving it at the gravesite of a loved one.

I personally never throw them out. I simply put them in a plastic bag and store them in my closet. They are good reference materials and can be used to evaluate spiritual growth over the years. Kind of like looking back at your old school pictures. I save them more or less for nostalgia. The bottom line is: a bible is simply a book and whatever you choose to do with it is up to you. Some may save it, some may throw it away, I think everyone has their own opinion and should let their conscience be their guide.
God Bless You....Peace.

You could SERIOUSLY take it to a publisher and see if they could re-glue the seams! That is what Im planning on doing. Im 29 and have been carrying my SWORD since age 12; Like you say...."AND THERE'S NO WAY IT'S GONNA HIT THE TRASH!"

I have mended it by using thin strips of clear tape over the years, but now Im going to see if a professional publisher can mend it? :) I cannot even think of just pitching it; EvEr!!!!
GOD BLESS YOU in YESHUA ha'Moshiach!!!
