Proven fact seems to be ignored in favor of hope and faith. Isn't that like hoping your team can come back from a deficit after the game is over?

wrist---are you daft? evolution is a proven fact. It hasn't answered the origin of man but it IS a proven fact. Some species survivng while others become extinct is a small example of evolution. Grab a program will ya?

justin----a gazelle is born with a mutation for better eyesight thus improving it's chances to survive and propagate....half of it's offspring receive that gene...they have improved odds....and so on and so on until the gazelles without the gene become extinct because they are more likely to become prey.....evolution.
It's too bad your faith blocks PROVEN FACT.

justin---I don't doubt a flood happened....floods happen every year! The world for these people was small to go with their small knowledge of the world/universe......these people were unaware of the existence of most of the planet and had unanswered questions that have since been answered.....we don't need the answers they made up anymore.....we have PROVEN FACTS.

Interesting question. If you take fact as something we know with absolute certainty then the answer is no. But it is no for the scientific people as well. Both Science and Religion rely on faith. Faith is hoping for something that is not seen.
"Matter can be neither created nor destroyed," says modern science from Newton or someone like that. Have you seen all matter? Have you been around from eternity to see that this modern axiom is true? We think its true because we can't seem to destroy matter. But where did matter come from? Big Bang? God? Did it always exist? Chaos Theory?
You learn in school that electricity makes the light go on. We can measure the electricity, we can supposedly "see" electrons in certain highly scientific, very expensive, microscopes. But does that mean that the theory behind why the light comes on is true? Not at all. Science changes it mind all the time.
When I was a kid I would go to the Museum of Natural History in New York City. The first thing you would see was a Brontisorus and a something - Rex fighting. Now you go to the same Museum and the same skeletons are seen in peaceful harmony eating the trees.
Scientist can't prove their science anymore than religious people can prove their religion. That's why we call it FAITH!

Well, I'd argue that natural selection is pretty much fact. The idea of evolution, though, is still a theory. It just hasn't been proven wrong yet, but really that's true of any fact or theory. No one has found a test that proves it wrong yet.
There will never be enough evidence to make the existence of God fact (until maybe the end of days), but that's the point. If there was undeniable proof, then faith would be unnecessary. It's faith, though, that distiguishes who gets to go to heaven and who does not. Faith is the key. It's not an easy journey, and it's not supposed to be. Those that don't have faith have it easy.
And for the record, I believe in evolution AND God. God created nature and therefore can work through nature. One "day" in the Bible is not necessarily what God would consider a day. For all we know, he's still in his 7th day of rest.

Generally it is something given evidence supports and does not reject. It often is subject to context.
For instance, the Gospels are about a man named Jesus from Nazareth is a fact; Jesus is the way, the life, and the truth may be a fact but is a matter of faith.

Evolution is the bases for atheism without one shred of evidence, in fact more evidence to support creation. This game is far from over. Gods team may sometimes be behind, but I know the final score and God will win in the end. Place your bets in Him before it's too late.

Hope and faith aren't mutually incompatible with proven fact. I know what falls into each category, and I don't confuse the two.

You must be one of the followers of the religion of Darwinism who refuses to believe the scientific proof that Evolution could not possibly have occured.

Yes... it's a FACT they're faithful to their beliefs. It's also a FACT that you are just as ignorant and as much of a bigot as the "Christians" you insult.
