rofl it is ok!!!!! i breed purebred cats for a living. the mom cat lies down to take a nap alot away from the nest because she needs a break! plus you don't want the kittens to be with her ALL THE TIME! the kittens will be very active until they start to walk especially when their eyes open! that is normal and you should be happy that the kittens are doing so well! our mom cat didn't do half as well with the first litter! she was definately not kill or abandon them by the look of things! everything is great!!! and you prolly aren't doing it the right way to get it out of her nip it is designed for kittens not humans lol

The mom is just taking a break. Don't worry. The kittens should be in a box of some kind so they can't get so far away from the nest...that isn't safe. If the kittens have round full tummies, are warm, and not crying much, they sound fine. Cats are usually very good mamas. Oh, and get some pyrantel pamoate from the vet to start deworming the kittens at 2-3 weeks old--very important!

all is fine, the mother knows exactly what the kittens are doing and where all of her kittens are located.
she is just taking a little break for her self.
there's milk also for the kittens, calm down, nature always takes care of its self.

Everything you are saying sounds completely normal to me.

How many HUMAN mum's do you know that are with their babies 24-7? Seriously! With all those screaming little mouths, you WANT a break every now and again!!!!
