I would suggest staying in the Bahamas at the Atlantis Resort, I have stayed there many times and I can tell you that it is stunning!
I have stayed on many other islands - Fiji is stunning but very expensive.
I love St.Thomas, it is a beautiful island and you can rent out a condo for a few days for a lot less than the majority of fine hotels on any other islands. Hawaii is overpriced and pretty boring. St.Maarten is very nice, but often crowded.
I would suggest either the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas or St.Thomas.

I've been to these places on Vaction and Loved it:
If you wanna go out of the US there is this greek island, Santorini. I love it, it's very calm and relaxing and it's beautiful. There is a breathtaking ocean all around and the most calm envirement ever, no cars or anything.
Cancun was also a very fun place. A lot more activities, swimming with dolphins, helicopter rides, horseback riding on the beach, snorkling. It's a fun place if you're staying at a good resort.
One of the greatest American islands would br Key West or the Florida Keys. It's very beautiful, they have great resturants and clubs/bars. They have an excelent beach and a breathtaking sunset. It's one of the nicest places I've been to in America.
Miami is fun but not a island, however you may want to consider it. I had the time of my life there.

we have travel extensively with our boys and we love the islands and Mexico the best. We have time shares and, because my husband is sick we can no longer use them. We are offering them for the cost of our taxes and fees, which is only $399 to $950for a full week in a condo / 1 or 2 bedroom, full kitchen, very elaborate. We have references of those who have used them and we trade through RCI so you can go to any of the islands at any time available. best to you

Puerto Rico Defintiely! This is part of the US, so no passport for citizens! & the same USD money is used, plus you can go fairly cheap & most people speak english as well there. There are gorgeous beaches, nice people, delicious food, culture & history, so many sights & things to do.
There is 'El yunque' Rain forest. & 3 bioluminescent bays(of only 6 in the world!) This is where the water glows in the dark when you touch it. It is amazing! A giant radio telescope from the movie 'Contact'. & the bacardi factory. Plus the biggest mall in the caribbean Las plazas americas. & you can shop the colorful streets of old san Juan. There is plenty of nightlife & festivals all yr! & 'El Morro' old war fort & the first church in 'the new world'. Enjoy!

I would look at Turks... There is a Beaches Resort there that is beautiful and awsome for famlies. Or one of the smaller Bahama Islands like Exuma. Grand Cayman is really good for families.

Grand Cayman- and definitely visit Stingray City. Me and my husband used Captain Marvins for a snorkeling/stingray city excursion and it was fabulous. Great beaches and awesome snorkeling and diving.

Malaysia (Kuala Lumper) Its a beautiful, very modern city. And its a great hub for making short visits to other island countries, such as Brunei, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines , Indonesia etc etc etc.
