I try not to, but I can't help it. Both my boys are so cuddly.

kenneth.. my dogs are both spoiled, and they are extremely sweet, gentle, and wonderful pets! i don't think there's anything wrong with making your pets comfortable and happy.

one more thing to chew on -
when i got one of my dogs from the shelter, they made us sign a sheet promising that we wouldn't keep him outside, because they consider that to be inhumane.. (a lot of people have a beef with the dog whisperer over stuff like this)..

We have two yorkies. Our 3 year old, Chandler, sleeps in bed with us. He has since day one. He is very mellow and cuddly. Our 6 month old, Joey, sleeps in his crate. We hope that one day he will sleep in bed with us, but he is much too hyper right now. When we put him in bed with us, he is much too distracted with biting his brother's ears!!
I see no problem letting my dogs sleep with me. I actually cannot sleep with Chandler. My husband and I have always said we will never cosleep with our children, but the dogs are definately going to sleep with us!
And besides, they wake me up if there is something shady going on outside in the middle of the night. They are good watch dogs!

we used to let our mini dach sleep with us, because for the first 2 mths of his life, he slept in a bed with all the other dogs, and the guy we got him from. we tried to keep him in the kennel, but he cried so much that we caved in. he never had an accident or anything in the bed, so it was ok. he now sleeps in his kennel at night, and he feels more secure in there, and we sleep better. i am not scared that i'll roll over on him anymore. he is so cute when he sleeps with us, though. he's allowed into bed when i get home after a midnight shift at work, and he goes right to sleep for a few more hours.

When I lived with my parents I let the family Lab sleep in bed with me (all 75 lbs. of him!). The only rule was that he could not get in bed unless I was in bed as well.
Now I live on my own and recently got a puppy. My mom thinks I should not let him sleep on the bed with me to prevent there from being a problem in the event that I eventually get married and my husband wants to sleep in the bed. I don't know, from what I see of married couples, I think I'll probably like the dog better on most nights!

Of course, and when it's cold both of them. In Oz the indigenous people measure the coldness of a night by how many dogs you need to keep warm (two-dog night or three-dog night). Not kidding either.
Mine have their own beds right next to the parental bed, but they are welcome any time they like.

Does the dog whisperer really advocate not having dogs in the house? I can't believe it. Dogs are pack animals and need to be where their pack (family) is.

My dog is a service dog and she earns the right to sleap on my bed if she wants to though sometimes she hops off to sleep in the corner, or at the foot of my bed.

Yes, but there are rules......first ,being it is by invitation only. They have to wait at the edge of the bed until I invite them up. 2. NO playing or excitement on my bed, It is for sleeping only. 3 To make sure that at any time you can say OFF and they leave with no exceptions. If you adhere to this they can enjoy u and u can enjoy them but you still remain leader.

My doxies get to sleep on the bed, and the GSD I had had a bed next to my bed, but when I fell asleep, he'd crawl onto the bed and take over, with me normally landing on the floor.

Absolutely! The whole pack needs to be together. Our four minpins sleep under the covers, our aussie mix sleeps on my feet, my sheltie sleeps on the floor next to the bed(she gets hot) and my Heeler sleeps under the bed (she's afraid). It's amazing no one gets squished!
