My son loves Barney movies! He also likes ball play, esspecially those roll-around balls. If you are wanting to keep your child busy while you clean try giving him or her real dishes to play with. My son likes to stick his roll around balls in a measuring cup. Another great toy is the Ball Popper, you can get it Wal-mart for under 20 bucks.

Lots of different things:
1.) Baby Einstein DVDs are awesome!
2.) Anything safe (like balls or stuffed animals) that can be taken out of one bin and put into another... they'll do that for hours!
3.) If you can stand the noise, small pots and pans and large safe spoons (large enough to not gag the child)
4.) Those FisherPrice Peek a Boo blocks...
5.) Anything they can push around, like a toddler sized toy vacume or lawnmower, or a popper (again, if you can stand the noise)
6.) A cardboard box turned on it's side or to where they can crawl in and out if it isn't too large to where they'd hurt themselves...

other children about the same age. I invite cousins over and its a bit of work but at least I do not have to 'play' all day everyday and its good to have playmates who are children rather than mom all the time

Pots & pans or safe kitchen implements - wooden spoons/spatulas to bang & clang with. Measuring cups. Blocks - soft foam ones, age-appropriate 'learning toys' that help with eye=hand and fine motor coordinating. Stacking cups, wooden bead on maze-chase toy...baby books. Play with your baby as much as you can, and then he will learn to amuse himself for 'short' periods of time.
But don't plop him down in front of the tv or video, please!
