I just graduated College and I am trying to get sales position, because I was to be a financial advisor. But it seems like every where I apply I don't hear from them. And never get any calls from interviews. I love working with ppl. ppl trust me and so forth. Ugh.
Any ideas for my next interview if I so happen to get one? I am expecting a call this week from a bank.
Thanks

The only way you get a sales job is if you sell the interviewer. That is all he's looking to see... if he's sold. Make sense?
soo... for some basics...
First, wear a Power Suite! Doesn't matter if it's a formal or informal environment.
Second, SMILE the ENTIRE TIME! Look them in they eye the Entire Time and call everyone you meet by name (over and over).
Third, do research on the company and act as though this is the only place on earth you want to work, even if it's not.
Fourth, If they ask you if you can or can't do something like a computer program always say yes and then learn it or... say "I am the fastest learner you've ever met and because I know xyz system I'm know I can learn yours".
Fifth, be as optimistic as you can through the entire interview.. and in the end...
The most important thing you need to do that most sales interviewees don't do is... interview them. Which mean.. as soon as you get into their office compliment the office and talk about their children's pictures or the awards on their wall. Have them do as much talking as possible and don't expect them to even ask one question. TRUST ME!
I promise you... If they ask you only 2 questions and you walk away from the interview thinking.. "i got that boss to talk about his job, his likes and all around.. himself A LOT and I hardly said a few words"... YOU HAVE THE JOB!

They don't want to hire you because you have no sales experience. 70% of financial advisors quit due to the fact they can't handle the rejection and long hours. It's very tough the first couple of years. I would recomend some sort of internship that will allow you to cold call. I did an internship for Merrill Lynch for free and did a paid internship with the Southwestern Company that sales employers loved.
Good Luck

Keep trying man. Don't give up. Just keep applying and follow up if you can. I'm in somewhat of a similar position and I know it can be extremely frustrating but keep at it. It will work out in the end.
