I was speaking to a friend, and we were discussing rape, and why God would allow it. She said that she used to be an Evangelist and she was taught that it was actually the Devil that made bad things happen, God would try to sort them out, but because the Devil is stronger than God, it didn't always work.
She also said that she was given evidence such as 'nice' things been bad for you. Eating chocolate, recieving money.
That this showed how the Devil had affected us all.

Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?

No. You're not going to create something stronger then yourself and give it a chance to destroy you.

Well, theoretically (and thats a big theoretically as an agnost), God posseses the ultimate level of omnipotent power, and whilst Satan was one of the chief archangels, he doesnt have the same level of control.

Now, thats on a singular level, but ask yourself this. Chrsitians believe that anyone who doesn't follow the word fo god is going to hell. Currently, there are around 180 Million Christians (in various forms) across the world, out of an approximate 60 Billion population, thats a pretty small percentage. So you could arge that whilst God is the more powerful being, Satan is winning the battle of numbers, and if we're to believe certain prophecies, when heaven and hell collide, we have a hell of a numbers advantage.

Personally, I don't believe this, I think if there is a god, he'll recognize that I've helped others, been a good husband, and used the tools he gave me, most notably the choice of free will.

I dont agree with your friend.
I believe we have a free will, God wanted it this way because true love and true realtionships cannot exist without it.

The devil has only the power to tempt us not the power to control, we have a choice, always.
Rape as you say is not the devil but the human decision to give in to a temptation and desire.

By the way eating chocolate or recieving money isnt necessarily a bad thing haha. Religion has a way of blaming the devil for all the problems of man, but it was man who chose to sin. The devil has no power over us except the power we give him. The devil makes a convienent scapegoat for our own stupid choices to give in to temptation. The devil is a failure, we too can be failures or winners depending on our decisions in life. God strengthens us to make the right decisions but ultimately we are accountable for our own decisions.

Oh no of course not! No one is more powerful than the Creator of the universe!!! Clearly the woman is teaching her own things, not things of God. Reject such false teachings. Jesus prophesied that this would occur during our time. (Matthew 7:15; Matthew 24:11,24)

Although some think that our Creator is not interested in earth's affairs, He is definitely watching and actually already has plans into place to completely destroy the Devil, his demons, and all his supporters, and rid the earth of wickedness. (Psalm 37:9-11, 28,29; Revelation 21:4; Revelation 21:5-8; 20:10)

You have good vs. evil. It is a battle each person must deal with internally. But I also think if you allow thoughts such as "the devil is stronger than God" into your head, you will be more predisposed to think that way. In a way you are feeding into the "devil" which I basically think are any negative thoughts.

No because God created satans before he was turning to be bad angel. God is the one who give power to satans, but the devil use that power in bad ways. God place satan as a querobin meaning a guard in Garden of Eden. So God is most powerful than the devil.Bad experience we encounter today is not the will of God, it was happened beacause we are ruled by satans and we are not perfect. But someday God wil punished those wicked one Psalm 37:9-10 and live to a paradise Psalm 37:29

Well, consider this. Satan was an angel before his pride turned him against God making him Satan the Devil. Jesus, God's firstborn angelic Son has been exalted in power second only to God himself, and God has purposed that his Son, Jesus, is the one to bruise Satan in the head, or destroy him. So, no one is as powerful as God. God allows things to happen because Satan raised an issue before all creation that God was not ruling his creation with their best interest in mind and was withholding good from them. Satan did not challenge God's power but his sovereignty, or right to rule. So God has set a time limit to show man cannot rule himself and neither can Satan. God cannot interfer during this time, but very soon God will have his Son, Jesus Christ break up the works of the Devil and set everything straight, God has too allow enough time for man to try every form of self rule to settle the issue.

Sadly, my version is very different from that.

I believe that within us all lies the ability to do good, or do harm. We are fully in control of ourselves. When we use our control to indulge in such things as drinking alcohol, taking drugs or anything which may impair our judgement, we throw away some of that control. What we choose to do ourselves affects others.

When we show respect for all others, we are more likely to be respected. When we cause harm, we make ourselves more likely to be harmed.

I agree with nice things being detrimental to us. Money promotes greed, and greed causes us to harm.

To cut a long answer short, we all suffer from a condition, a brain virus, that makes people cause harm simply to benefit themselves. We all have this. We must remove it from ourselves. When we conquer the human condition (greed, dishonesty, closed-mindedness, hate etc), we may become beyond Gods.

Listen, God created everything as well as the devil. The devil's purpose is meant to temp people into doing bad and evil, this is all part of the test from God.

If you do more good you will get rewarded with paradise and bad with hell fire. God has allowed the devil his wish to take as many of God's creation with him to hell. That is why bad influences or bad people usually try to influence others to do like them.

God has given us the choice to do good or bad. God has also installed in us knowing whats good and whats bad.

The devil is only a "creature". God is the one who created him to be a "good" angel and he rebelled. But he is still only a creature.

His power is in deceit and mans' weakness because of sin. His lies are very appealing because he appeals to our ego and urges us to be in control just as he tried to be when he tried to overcome God.

The devil lost, but people still have a tendency to do what seems good to them instead of what God has said is good and what is evil. And this includes rape...for some.

To demand that God CONTROL EVERYTHING so that no evil can happen is deception too. Most just want to play God and tell Him what THEY THINK is good and evil ...and thus they are trying to do what the devil did - make themselves the final judge of good and evil OVER AND ABOVE GOD.

No NO one is greater than God in any way shape or form. If one wants to overcome the devil or temptation they have to take full shelter of God or His Pure representative like Jesus. Otherwise we can succumb to all evil. Evil is just a test to show your level of surrender to God. IF there is no temptation then how will you show Him you want to follow His teachings and His way not evil. So evil is actually a servant of God just showing us where we are at. SO if you want to show God you love Him and not all bad things then choose. Love is choice and God gave free will and choice. Which one will you choose, when the temptations arise. The only way to overcome evil is God we can not do it alone. God is great We are small.
