First of all, I don't know what this has to do with immigration, because you've mentioned nothing.
Second, to me, it represents the freedom human beings can have here in the US. That's all.

It means my family and I have been Blessed by God to have been born citizens under The Flag of The USA , and not under any other flag of any other country in the world !

I pledge allegiance
To the flag
Of the United States of America.....
And so did many other people who died under that flag on behalf of our country.
It is not a God to be worshiped, but it is the most widely recognized symbol of our country, and should be treated with respect.
In my opinion, anyone who treats our flag with disrespect is using it only to reflect their disrespect for us.

The American Flag to me is a symbol of Freedom, it is also a symbol of that many of my forefathers fought in battles so that I would have the freedom to believe in God, and all the other freedoms I enjoy.
The Flag is also a symbol of that a lot of people died so that I can have my freedom and many more are dying for my freedom now, and there are many today who are serving my Country that have said they are willing to die if they must.
The American Flag honors this nation and those who died so that we could have our freedom, the American flag also honors those who are willing to die right now.
2 years ago I got to meet Bob Heft (designer of 50 Star U.S. flag) and his story on how he became the designer is powerful and I got to hear him tell it in person :)

it means me freedom and love and devotion. i get all warm and fuzzy when I look out the window and see it flying by. i sip coffee and watch me cats at play it's very strange to watch them early in the morning...then sunndenly they are gone for the day playing and roaming.
