If you hate George W. Bush you would have to admit he must have been a good pilot as this is what he flew in The Texas Air Guard according to this article.

The 102 Starfighter was an extremely difficult plane to fly. It had extremely high wing loading, even for a fighter. I believe they lost so many because it had very bad stall characteristics which caught inexperienced pilots by surprise and they didn't react quick enough or didn't have enough altitude, as when landing. So I wouldn't say it was, per se, "unsafe to fly", but it was certainly demanding. Have a nice day.

Where did that statistic come from?? It sounds entirely innacurate. A thing you gotta realize is the majority of most crashes happen because of pilot or crew errors. If pilots got better training, you would see less crashes. Then there are the other reasons, mechanical failures, weather, enemy fire even. No, I wouldn't call a plane unsafe to fly, but there are many people I would never fly with.

Planes are only unsafe to fly if you don't know how. And even then its not really the flying its the sudden stop at the end of the flying. 8000 times more people die every year in cars then in planes. We could greatly reduce this by getting rid of all of our illegal aliens.

No. That's why you need to be specially trained in order to fly a plane.

During some periods training was so intense that there were many jet crashes.

I suppose that depends a little on the circumstances surrounding that statistic. Did they crash in combat, or during training ops?

It wouldn't get that far the company would discontinue research.

I would... -But then, I wouldn't take a job in the Military-either, because it could result in getting me sent to Iraq & killed. So it depends on how you look at it... :)
