Chicago Tribune (at least they admit the economy's strong)

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Army missed its recruiting goals in June for
the second straight month, as rising casualties in Iraq and a strong
economy at home kept the service from enlisting enough new soldiers,
Pentagon officials said.

The New York Times (another economy is strong admission, is Paul Krugman looking?)

WASHINGTON, July 9 — The Army missed its recruiting goals in June for
the second straight month, as rising casualties in Iraq and a strong
economy at home kept the service from enlisting enough new soldiers,
Pentagon officials said.

Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army, strained by wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan, missed its recruiting goal

What is drive-by media?

Because the subject of the news story was June's recruitment numbers, which were 15% short.

Are you upset because you had to wait until the 3rd paragraph to learn about the previous 5 months' results?

It's a 12-paragraph article (in the Wash. Post). They can't put all of the background in the first paragraph.

If you think it's so important, why did *you* reprint only the first paragraph? It seems to me that you're doing the censorship, not the newspapers.

P.S. I don't know what "drive-by media" means.

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2007 – The Army fell short of its active-duty recruiting goal for June, but officials noted today that the Army is still ahead of its year-to-date goal and is expected to make its year-end goal.
June marked the second month in a row that the Army missed its active-duty recruiting goal, according to statistics released today by the Defense Department. The active Army, with 7,031 accessions, came up almost 1,400 recruits below its 8,400-person goal. However, officials noted that it remains 741 recruits ahead of its year-to-date goal.

The other three services met or exceeded their active-duty recruiting goals for June. The Navy recruited 3,999 sailors, 102 percent of its goal. The Marine Corps signed on 4,113 Marines, 110 percent of its goal, and the Air Force met its goal by recruiting 2,233 airmen.

Five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their June goals.

I've read many reports published by your so-called "drive by" media that has stated that.
maybe you should start reading more, and quit listening to talk radio fabrications.

How many times do they need to run an article about it, before your type quits denying they have already printed the story??

Military people are idiots and worthless anyways. They should round up all the illegals in the U.S. and put them in the military and ship them over to Iraq.
