Would you mind if a friend or family member walked into your house and helped themselves to whatever they want in the fridge without asking?

Unless they were very, very close, yes I would consider it rude. My mom would be okay but other family members, no... with friends I think it's only okay if at some point there had been permission given to 'help yourself'. If that's not the case, then it is rude to do so.

Yes, I would!
I feel that when someone enters my door to my house, they become a guest in my home. So, going into the fridge without asking, would not be acceptable to me. It's down right rude!
I'm old enough to remember the times when people used to ask to use your bathroom!

If your parents are very open people who are the type that says make yourselves at home meaning great hospitatlity, then sure they could go ahead, but keep in mind that it STILL would be nice if they could ask can I get a drink or something from the fridge. (common courtesy.)

Personally, I would never do it in anyones house even if I was starving or thirsty. (sign of manners)

it depends on the person and the relationship. a close friend or immediate family member would be ok by me - but I always tell them to help themselves anyway.

Personally, I would never go into someone's fridge unless they told me it was ok. And ok on one visit does not carry over to the next.

have mates that will do that and it would be more than OK, as she would be making me a cup of tea and getting the biccies out as well [she even knows my hiding places for stuff] BUT any one else would be in danger of pulling back a stump to be honest.......I find it highly rude when my husbands two eldest in mid to late 20's root around in my kitchen and start opening up all the cupboards and fridge etc....its almost like the are taking inventory........

if some lives in the house then of course they go in and help them selves or when my son is home on leave etc other wise it is VERY rude.

Yes! Just because you are a friend or member of the same family does not give a person liberty for infringing on another individuals privacy. You should ask permission from the person whoms home you are visiting.

I don't care who you are, a friend or part of the family, you do not get into my fridge without permission. The only ones that are allowed to do that is the ones that live there. (Just my boyfriend and I)

Love Nicole has got it right. I have family that it would be perfectly acceptable. And friends that I treat like family. So, it depends on the relationship. Close friends and family members, sure, why not! Help yourself! But if they are more aquaintances, it is a bit out of line!

Well if you are having a party you can't blame them for being thristy but it is always more polite to ask for permission. But if you feel offended then maybe you should go to their house and helped yourself and if they ask say that if you did it at my hosue why cant i do it at yours. It all depends on the relationship and it is your fridge.

in my house, friends and family are welcome to "raid" my fridge. do they? not usually, but I wouldn't mind. Any person who has to ask where the bathroom is, isn't close enough to do it though. Even when I go to my mom's house, I don't open the fridge unless I ask, but I try not to
