I just got news that one of my roommates won't be in the dorm living on campus, There were 4 of us, now 3, I don't know if campus housing has put another kid in the room.

I'm debating on whether to get my fam to leave real earlier when move in day comes, so that I can hopefully stake out a single room.
Should I try it? Or should I call res life and see what's up, see what they are going to do?

Also should I contact the other 2 guys to see what they are bring, if anything, so none of us are bringing double things, or not enough?

I'd go for the single room; I've always had a single. I liked dorm life, lots of opportunity to socialize, but I was also very glad I could go to my room and close the door when I felt the need to study or just wanted some peace & quiet for a while.

Go for the single room. Your mates will be thinking the same thing if they have the same info. It's just common sense.
