was that considered rude 2 u? or is that normal?

pls. help me w/ this!!! it's been killing me!

It happened 3 years ago. why do you still bring it up?
You're a smart girl, answer the question yourself.

Since we do not know what caused her reaction, it is hard to say if she what she perceived the insult to be. However, as an instructor it would seem to me that her approach could have been more professional. In fact, teachers are expected to be more nurturing and the comments you say she made to you were far from that.

This should have been an occasion in which she broadened your understanding of how to get along outside your culture. Additionally, you are a minority and I am sure there are things she could have talked with about that would have made you more comfortable.

But, truthfully, I cannot take any other stand on this because we do not know how she came to her conclusion.

I hope you are more at ease now.

And since you are wealthy, did your parents consider private schooling? Sometimes, different economical backgrounds have different views of things. Regardless of race, many times people with the same economic base have fewer differences.

Chin up!

i think that is extremely rude if you didnt say anything. She was being racist towards you. I would be terribly annoyed by this as well. Maybe she just assumes all white people are "snooty" and think they are better. Thats really not right though. Did you tell your parents? i suggest you tell them.

It does sound rude to me.

Since it's bothering you so much, tell that teacher you feel awful about this mis-communication and you never intended her to feel this way.

Sometimes you have to take the upper hand.

Sometimes people mis-interpret a look, etc....it sounds like she did.

If you genuinely weren't doing anything out of line, then yes, it was rude. Not to mention discriminitory.

you do a good job of telling your side, but how were you acting toward her? maybe you should take the hint and re-evaluate how you talk to others.

I would consider that rude, yes. She had no right to say that to you if you truly hadn't done anything.

I think if it was three years ago, you should maybe begin to let it go. Its in the past, now.

You must have done something, said something, etc. without even having realized it.
Time for you to move on.

She should not be teaching. Sounds like she has an ax to grind.
