"When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters."
Genesis 5:3-4
Adam's sons married his daughters. This was not incest as there was no law against this, as it was obviously the only way for the race to continue.
Today we have laws against bigamy. Many Bible personalities had multiple wives, as there was no specific commandment against this. The principle of monogamy was not firmly established until Christ declared it to be the divine will (see Matthew 19:1-9)
P.S. Incest was clearly declared to be forbidden only after the giving of the Law of Moses.

Genesis 5:2 says that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters. Their first descendants would only have had close relations to choose as mates. Many people speculate that the genetic problems associated with the offspring of such union may not have been serious until mankind had spread through many generations.

I've always wondered about Cain--who left & found a wife somewhere else. Where & who, if Adam, Eve, & their children were the only people? And I'm Christian. It's one of the reasons I've never considered the Bible as historical fact, but "simply" an inspirational & inspired text.

Adam and Eve did have daughters. If you read chapter 5 of Genesis it says so. Obviously Cain had intercourse with one of his sisters and bore Enoch. At that time humans still had outstanding physical health. They didn't deteriate as fast as we do now so the chances of passing on any defects were slim.

The Word of God doesn't give month to month details of it's history. Adam and Eve also produced daughters in which over time allowed for reproduction of their offsprings. Hope this helps you..

They had more than 2 sons. After Cain killed Abel, the bible says that A&E had Seth and then that they had many children.

WHere in the bible does it say they only had two sons. Cain and Abel are talked about in the bible but it doesn't say that they were their only children.

Incest.
Although the Bible then goes on to suggest that there were other people around. It's another of the many contradictions and inconsistencies that you find in the Bible if you insist on declaring it inerrant.
I'm not a believer, but I think I get more out of reading the Bible than most fundamentalists because I'm not trying to bend my mind around such contradictions. They have to perform so many mental gymnastics to prove the Bible's inerrancy, they miss the point.
